A day after she announced that the city of Chicago would not cooperate with planned deportation raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, Mayor Lori Lightfoot is doubling down on her opposition to President Donald Trump’s policies.
The mayor, speaking to a gathering of immigration activists and concerned residents in the city’s Uptown neighborhood Saturday, had two words for the president.
“Back off,” she said to applause from the gathered crowd.

I wonder what Chicago employees depending on the city for their pension (insolvent already) thinks about adding thousands of illegals to the city budget.

No one will upset the apple cart as long as there are still ‘free’ or available apples.
The ‘upset’ comes later when it effects them DIRECTLY.
Unions been getting away with it for years but at least at one time they did ‘try’ to take care of strikers etc but today the rep runs around collecting dues in a suit that the laborers couldn’t begin to afford, driving a brand new car and could care less about the people, only whizzed off that the company won’t take it out of their pay and send it directly to the ‘rep’....
Of course if the company takes it out directly, it will go to the office and they won’t need the ‘collector’....

Used to spend a lot of time in your city. Had a condo downtown in one of the high rises I was there so much.
I was always amazed at the good people that elsewhere in the country would be Republicans that had spent their lifetime swept up in the combine.
No hope for this once great city. it is slowly going the way of Detroit.

There really needs to be some sort of judicial review.
If a state doesn’t use the money as intended, it needs to be returned.
These judges are making political decisions, not ones supported by the law.
