Australian Telco Companies Censor AR15.com & Others

It seemed odd. I contacted a source I have in Australia, and asked them to see if they could access the site.

I have been writing while traveling about Australia. While working on an article, I searched for AR15 style pistols. The search found the information I wanted to access on ar15.com. I attempted to access ar15.com, but repeatedly received the error message:

It seemed odd. I contacted a source I have in Australia, and asked them to see if they could access the site.  They verified the lack of access and more. They sent me a link to a news article about telecommunication companies acting in concert to censor information from Australian customers. From smh.com, 21 March 2019:

Dozens of websites have been blocked this week in an effort to stop the footage being shared, including 4chan, gun websites ar15.com, bestgore.com, zerohedge.com, liveleak.com, darkweb.tokyo, anonfile.com and lulz.com. These sites are being unblocked when the video is removed.

Telcos typically do not have staff moderating content or websites and usually block websites only when provided a court order or given instructions by government agencies. Mass blocking of websites by internet providers to stop the sharing of a piece of content is highly unusual.

AR15.com censored in Australia. First by the telecommunication companies, then by the government.

Just a reminder, Australia is a socialist country.

The Australian government embraced censorship of ‘distasteful’ sites and subjects back in the 90s and 00s, so the order is reversed.

I guess we can stop being so critical of China for its censorship practices.
More and more the west is treating its citizens subjects the same way.

And now you know why my Login name is what it is. I left Australia (my place of birth) for freedom. I am now a US citizen. I was asked this morning: “Do you miss home?” and I instantly replied; “No!” To a startled look, I responded, “because I AM HOME.”

When Freedom is Free, you are no longer living in this world. Otherwise, Freedom is only as Free as the price one is willing to pay. Australia never lost freedom, it never HAD IT to begin with.

100%.. i've said the next wave is telco censorship

even it we started a new youtube or social media platform to avoid all the free speech restrictions it would be the telco's that would be next in line to stifle us

We are nowhere near to being a socialist nation, except for medical (ala Canada). Some ethnic groups get free legal. But all benefits are means-tested - if you have high income or dual income you are -in the main- not given welfare, or its adjusted down on a sliding scale. Aged Pensions are exempt from that. They used to pay pensions even if you had an overseas address, bit that changed.

Some blogs associated with the US left-wing have exaggerated our ban on semi-autos and slow-mo applications for rifles etc, to push for gun control like Australia etc etc. Control or at least the policing (encompassing a sort of DHS effect too) has my support - it has worked ok for me and my Lever Action hobby. Also, if the Police find someone with an unregistered weapon they know right off the bat that the perp is a bad guy to say the least, ‘cause only bad guys have semi-auto rifles, shotguns and unregistered/unlicensed handguns.

Australia has a high per capita of current and former military peeps and we get all the semi-and auto action we ever want while “wearing the green”. Thats the reality. So its a slight case of fake news from leftys IMHO. Again, NZ... very lefty orientated - do even have a defense force at the moment??

The federal election held last may re-elected another conservative government. Not center-right, but not far right either: very careful expenditure, careful subsidies, tough on illegal gimmegrants. They’re grown-ups and the leftys can’t stand it.

As for Telcos and their button work.. when the NZ shooting was censored.. and it was heavily censored, I just went with a VPN. Easy.

I have been to Australia back in 2015, really nice people, no college system, instead you yave trade schools, you can work at 14. Great food, they have minimal junk food in yhe stores, no white eggs. Pack of smokes is $40, yes just one pack. Higher wages all around but extremely high electric and fuel costs that choke you to death, you wont see massive rvs or big dually pickups.
I could go on and on but they are actually a workable socialist country by all definition’s i know of.
Country takes good care of you, taxes whats bad. Gives you so much good healthy food so you won’t argue with changing the government.

Sorry but its how i see it, just not enough freedom.

It is becoming an intrusive nanny state.

Everything is licensed. Costs are very high for food, housing, fuel, and utilities.

I love the people and culture.

The media seem quite far left.

Very little alternative media.
