President Trump called off a round of deportations slated to begin Sunday, saying he was delaying them for two weeks at the request of Democrats — though he said both sides need to use the time to strike a broader deal on stopping new illegal immigrants.
The surprise move came just hours after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi requested the delay, calling the planned deportations too cruel.
“At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border. If not, Deportations start!” the president said on Twitter.
Just hours earlier Mr. Trump had said he was committed to the deportations, calling them an important consequence.
“When people come into our Country illegally, they will be DEPORTED!” he’d tweeted.
U.S. Immigration and Customs had sought to make good on that stance with plans to begin searching out and deporting thousands of illegal immigrants who’d been ordered removed by a judge, have exhausted their cases, but are defying the orders.

The mistake that was made was even announcing the raids. All over our local commie news last night and today they were sounding the alarm, telling people to keep their doors locked and not answering the door to anyone. Next time, dont announce it, JUST DO IT

If I understand correctly, the people scheduled for deportation have already had their day in court. Why wait another 2 weeks? They should have already been gone.

Any deal that permits these people - who are already fugitives from justice - to remain is a terrible deal.

As Post 2 states, announcing it was a huge mistake. Just do it, and let the chips fall. Root these invaders out!

Bad move.No delay whatsoever for Bella Pelosi.
Terrible move. This gives the dems two weeks to demonize it in the press and the criminals two weeks to go into hiding. It was a mistake (not some masterstroke as some on here want to believe) to announce it...and it is a mistake to delay it.
Depends on what Trumps gets for the delay.
Or what he does if he doesn’t get it.
It would be like telling a murderer on Monday we are going to come pick you up, ya think he is gonna be there waiting at the front door with a suit on saying “OK Im here take me in”
If they don’t come up with a solution he can say they blew it. It was a setup from the get go.
