Alabama Republican Roy Moore has announced he is running for U.S. Senate again in 2020 after failing to win the seat two years ago amid sexual misconduct accusations.
Moore announced his campaign Thursday, seeking an eventual rematch against Democratic Sen. Doug Jones. The announcement upends an election viewed by Republicans as a top priority in 2020 and ignores President Donald Trump's warning that he "cannot win."

I'd like to see how his fans here on FR view this in light of President Trump's strong "non-endorsement."
The one upside to this idiocy is that he gives the rest of the GOP the opportunity to present themselves as normal, reasonable candidates in a presidential election year -- by utterly disavowing this loser.

I am from Alabama and I can’t stand this fraud. The only way he was on the ballot last time was democrats crossing over and voting in the republican primary. He is a nut and can’t win. Last time he ran we got abortion Jones as an Alabama senator. Please no.

Mo Brooks better throw his hat into the ring, as well, because Moore is damaged goods and would not win.

I can’t wait to see what Steve Bannon has to say about this. He seriously damaged his credibility — and his bank account — by backing this misfit in 2017.

Then he deserves the cold silent treatment he’s about to get.

Moore is an idiot. Hopefully he will get hammered in the primary and not even be close.

Mo Brooks has already said he won't run. I suspect it's because he made a terrible blunder in 2017 by promising to oppose Mitch McConnell in the Senate.
That might have been a sound strategy if there was actually a movement within the GOP to challenge McConnell's leadership, but in the absence of such a challenge he just pissed off the Senate Majority Leader for no reason at all.
P.S. -- Moore made the same promise, which is why McConnell and the GOP leadership worked so hard to undermine Moore in the election.

I’ve known many Southerners and a lot of them, not all, are prideful and end up making bad decisions because of that trait.
