Alabama Republican Roy Moore has announced he is running for U.S. Senate again in 2020 after failing to win the seat two years ago amid sexual misconduct accusations.
Moore announced his campaign Thursday, seeking an eventual rematch against Democratic Sen. Doug Jones. The announcement upends an election viewed by Republicans as a top priority in 2020 and ignores President Donald Trump's warning that he "cannot win."

I listened to his announcement live on the radio. At first he sounded like typical Roy Moore and was struggling to read his speech or get out his prepared remarks. He has never been good at that and sounded pathetic.
However when he opened it up for questions he started to come alive somewhat, e.g. quoting James Madison, and ranting about a host of issues including the border. I have to admit the 2nd half of his remarks sounded good ... probably because of my low expectations. :-)
Moore is not going away. I also believe they will probably find more women to come forward. So the accusations and dirty tricks are probably not going away either. Mo is not running. Bradley Byrne is not a favorite of mine but will probably do well since he knows how to campaign. We shall see how this plays out.
He never had a chance to defend himself. Everyone jumped on him at once like here. I always liked him. He stood for what was right long before a lot of people knew how to spell politician. Look how the Rats stick by their damaged goods.A la Northam. The difference is that Moore is fighting for what’s good. Piling on is an ugly thing to watch.
Question to the Roy Moore haters — if it finally boils down to Moore and ANY Democrat, who would you vote for?
No. He was in his early to mid thirties. As I explained to a lot of people at the time, Moore is an evangelical. He takes his bible stuff seriously. After he got back from fighting for his country in the Vietnam war, most of the marriageable girls his own age were already married or divorced. By the time he got finished with law school, if he wanted to find a "pure" woman, he would have to look for one amongst the younger population.
A 33/18 marriage is not that unusual by past standards, and so many people forget Moore is a product of a bygone era when it was not out of the ordinary for young women to marry older established men.
Also I reject your claim that someone in their mid thirties dating and marrying a younger woman is "not fit for office." I do not consider the matter relevant to being representative of the people of a state to the US Congress.
651,000 Alabamians also did not see this as objectionable.
How do you know? Did you see Roy feel anybody up? I didn’t think so.
This didnt take long: Mitch McConnell will oppose Moore “in every way”.

Hes make a sterling edition to our Senatorial cesspool.
And what am I supposed to make from that? Wealthy liberal bastards in every state routinely support the Democrat. Apart from that, money wasn't going to win that race.
What won that race for the Democrats is the continuous lying spread by the "news" liars, and the Republicans stabbing their own candidate in the back.
He can’t win. All this other stuff doesn’t matter.
Oh for effs sakes. This guy could have been and should have been incensed when they leveled these charges at him. Instead, he went on Hannity and gave a goober type interview providing the worst answers to the most direct questions.
Q: Did you stalk young girls like they are reporting.
A: Well, I can honestly say that I would not characterize it that way.
Q: Right, but the question was whether you are a lecherous old dude that stalked younger women.
A: And I am saying that I can’t recall ever having done anything like that.
Q: So you weren’t a stalker that did the things they are accusing you of.
A: Right. I can say some things about that but will be vague instead.
Q: So then, you didn’t stalk young girls?
A: I liked to date when I was younger.
Q: Ummm, you aren’t getting how this game is played are you?
A: Speaking of games, if you will excuse me, I’d like to crack open a cold one and watch some football instead of campaigning right up until Election Day.
Moore is just as stupid as they come
"The answer is Roy Moope!"
"It's Moore!"
A Democrat now sits in that seat because of a massive media smear campaign against Moore, and deliberate Republican backstabbing of their own candidate.
Moore himself had nothing to do with losing. It was all forces larger then him.
Had those lying bitches not been dragged up by that lying reporter Stephanie McCrummen from the Washington Post, and had the national media not carried every smear against Moore, he would have won by a heavy margin.
I agree with you but Moore did it too himself. Kavanaugh showed up and categorically denied the allegations without hesitation and with passion.
Moore!?!?
Well, I wouldn’t characterize it as stalking. Gee, I’m just so upset by these allegations never mind my lack of outrage over these charges.
He showed up on a friendly Hannity Show and still mailed it in.
“I know shes 74, but Id like to see Governor Ivey run for the seat, as she would be a shoo-in.”
I’m not so sure about that after she raised the gas tax.
You missed the powerful effects of a nationwide smear machine called the "news" services. One would think you might have noticed what they did to Kavanaugh, but apparently not.
You only see the man. I see the massive political machines battling it out in propaganda space, which is where the real battle is.
A significant enough portion of any population is manipulated by the propaganda they here, and thus are many elections steered.
I’m Roy Moore and I am so upset with being accused of being a stalker of young girls that I am going to take a nap.
Not only did Jones raise more money in Alabama than Moore, but he had MORE DONORS. Money may not have been critical in that race, but this is an alarming indicator for a Republican candidate in a state like Alabama.
Preach it. There are a lot of ignorant people replying to this thread and you’re the only one making sense. I don’t want him to run. I agree that he’s unfortunately too damaged. However, I will never the disparage him. Apparently people don’t realize that what he was punished for were things that, as conservatives, they would agree with. The whole child molester story was a hoax, but so many people, for some reason, bought into it.
