That is almost verbatim what was being said about the V-22 Osprey.
It seems to be quite effective now, doesn’t it?

It was proven the hard way a long time ago that one airplane cannot be all things to the needs of fighters.

No way you spend that kind of money and end up with a plane that melts at top speed. Engineers are typically not that dumb. Follow the money.

I agree. The F-35 is a flying turd and it’s supposedly a veritable ‘Miracle from Jesus’ that’s going to replace the F-15, F-16, A-10, F-18, F-22, AV-8, and etc.
It’s a Swiss Army Plane and it does everything but it doesn’t do any of them well.

Seemed to me the F-22 was a pretty nice platform before Obama shut it down.

Rewind a famed years, change F35 to F22, hit play. All weapon systems have deficiencies when they are new....all of them.

The good news is the Chicoms probably stole the Tech so they will have the same concerns that we have.

When the military/Pentagon/Politicians start designing a “one-size-fits-all” weapons system, KNOW that the system is going to suck at everything it actually does, and won’t actually do half of what they promised! EVERY DAMN TIME!

i’m retired US Air Force. Just spoke to some f-35A pilots here at Maxwell AFB (Squadron Officer’s School).
They said they LOVE it. Both were in F-16s earlier.
They’ve dogged every weapon system I can remember since I was an Airman Basic, 44 + years ago.
Don’t believe the PRESS!!!

Vice Adm. Mat Winter, who leads the F-35 program on behalf of the Pentagon, said that the department has taken steps to mitigate the problem with an improved spray-on coating, but added that the government will not completely fix it instead accepting additional risk. As justification for the decision, Winter noted that the issue was documented while the jet was flying at the very edge of its flight envelope. He also said the phenomenon only occurred once for both the B and C models, despite numerous attempts to replicate the conditions that caused the problem. How often do we expect something like that to occur? he said. It's very, very small.

Doom porn. The F-35 is winning over more skeptical pilots every day. Both US and foreign. The god’s eye feature is a technical marvel and a very hugh leap in technology.
To: maddog55
Jet by committee again. And the F 22 was already on line and performing wonderfully but pushed aside for the more glamorous F 35. Get back to producing the F 22 and dump this crappy F 35.
