After decades in the FBI, the top brass came to believe they could flout the law and pursue their own political agendas. One of the media and beltway orthodoxies we constantly hear is that just a few bad apples under James Comey at the FBI explain why so many FBI elites have been fired, resigned, reassigned, demoted, or retired or just left for unexplained reasons. The list is long and includes director James Comey himself, deputy director Andrew McCabe, counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, attorney Lisa Page, chief of staff James Rybicki, general counsel James Baker, assistant director for public affairs Mike Kortan, Comeys special assistant Josh Campbell, executive assistant director James Turgal, assistant director for office of congressional affairs Greg Bower, executive assistant director Michael Steinbach, and executive assistant director John Giacalone. In short, in about every growing scandal of the past two years FISA, illegal leaking, spying on a presidential candidate, lying under oath, obstructing justice someone in the FBI is involved.

It was to coordinate all federal law enforcement agencies so they didn’t have overlapping and concurrent investigations on the same entities and run the risk of blowing the case. Ergo, de-confliction. And it was also done to prioritize investigations so there wasn’t a repeat of guys taking flying lessons, while over staying their visas. Initially it was not supposed to be anything more than administrative. But, everyone wants guys with guns to do their own thing.
Why do you think the Social Security Administration has armed investigators? As does HUD, Dept of Education, IRS, all of them. They all learned that they can’t go to the FBI or US Marshal’s for everything. They’d never get anyone in custody. So they all went to Congress and got authorization and funding for folks with guns and badges.
But I do agree, that DHS could potentially be a tool for an attempt at a police state. But, all they have to do is put all of them under one big tent and there you have it.
If you go back and watch the House Testimony by Peter Strzok, whcn he’s grilled by Trey Gowdy, you come to realize that these people are contemptuous of us all.
This guy in particular should see jail time.
Good article.
If the people who are supposed to enforce the laws break them DEMselves and use this illegality against you, youre not being governed, youre being ruined:-)
However, to be honest, what I really don't get is why is everyone seemingly expressing surprise? The one thing, the only constant throughout all human history is that government attracts those seeking power, wealth and control. So why is everyone so shocked it happened in the USA? Please don't tell me they really think 'doG shed his grace on thee'?
The founders were highly educated aristocrats trained in philosophy, government and history. They engineered a system that was the best clean sheet design ever created. But, it was still imminently corruptible, and required constant maintenance (aka 'vigilance'). But those with designs on defeated fortifications knew the weaknesses and corrupted it became.
We are now living with results of decisions made over 100 years ago, all directed towards acreting power to the elite and reducing the people towards penury. And now people are waking up, with fakes like VDH opining like some respected sage about how disappointing and sordid the entire affair has become.
I disagree and agree with you. We’ve been conditioned to, go to and blame the FBI every time something catastrophic happens.
With Pusle Nightclub and San Bernadino, Yes, the FBI dropped the ball.
Parkland High School. That was a local problem that should have been handled by the Sheriff’s Dept and the SRO, who has now been charged, thank the Lord. But, here’s one thing about Cruz that has never made any sense to me. He was young and had the weapon. He lived with a friend. The parents, at least one of them, was formerly in military intelligence and was some type of defense contractor, if memory serves me. And that guy stated that he left his gun safe open so Cruz could have access to his rifle. Does that make any sense? And we’ve never heard a word from them since. Not a peep.
I think the biggest issue is, so many times the FBI interjects themselves in so many things and most agencies are glad to have them as it’ll be their resources being used. But, with all that we’re finding out about them, to me, they’re there to cover tracks and muddy the waters to hide the mistakes.
As for the moron who shot the guy in Denver, watch the video again. He fired the weapon, negligently, when he picked it up from the floor. It didn’t go off when it hit the floor. He pulled the trigger.
Well, it’s funny that you picked that photo, because that was a press release shot to make Hoover look “tough”. He didn’t carry a gun any more than Comey did.
Much as I like VDH, he missed the key point on this one. A fish rots from the head down. In this case, the rotten head was BHO. No amount of reform of the FBI will stop a rotted president. The only fix for this is jailing ALL the crooked cops, including the top one.
I'd add to your list the FBI coverup of the Mandalay Bay massacre.
A great read from a great American VDH.
The rank and file wouldn't have known any more than we do about Hillary's email server or the fake Trump Russian collusion. Both cases were HQ specials and counter intelligence cases. It is unlikely any rank and file agent working the case would have had the big picture.
Were they incapable of investigating that, or were the politics of what they found too much for the powers at large to allow to get out?

It isn’t just the FBI. Who his old enough to remember Valarie Plame, Joe Wilson, the CIA and the attempt to get Karl Rove?
Perhaps, but I heard many times there wee 100's who were willing to tell the truth. Could have been Fake News, but I heard it many times.
I know. It’s so sad but true. Now I just focus on sports & Fandom Menace youtube vids (while they’re still available).
I've read or heard similar reports. The only ones that open their mouths are the retired agents.
You two help prove my point, I think. I completely forgot about that. And tinfoil hat, black helicopters, black vans, or whatever, there are still so many unanswered questions that will never be answered.
It’s either them looking down their collective noses at us, as we’re considered to simple to fully understand the complexities of the event. We’re dumb, you know? ... OR ... They were doing some really shady sh*t, it backfired and they’re covering it up. And 53+ people were killed and no one cares. The media did its best to make us forget about it and that’s that.
Annnnnnnnnndddddddddddddd, all of that leads back to the “rank & file agents that are beyond reproach, are nothing but honest and spewing with integrity, and are sickened by how their leadership has tainted the reputation of the most elite law enforcement agency in the universe”, as being nothing more than a bunch of bullsh*t.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
The upper echelon are the ones that play politics. J. Edgar Hoover used his agency to amass reams of blackmail material on every politician, celebrity, and religious leader in America. And he used it to remain director of the FBI for almost 50 years.

Yes .....so true.
