"And so we are bringing that same notion [from Google] and approach to YouTube, so that we can rank higher quality stuff better and really prevent borderline content — content which doesn’t exactly violate policies, which need to be removed, but which can still cause harm."

This needs to be met with a two-pronged response:

1.) The development of alternative platforms. This will be tough because the financial orgs are becoming notorious for de-monetizing such upstart platforms to help protect the big players from competition.

2.) Trust-busting. Breaking up monopolies like Google, Facebook, Comcast, and Microsoft are what anti-trust laws were meant for. They should be used.

There are. Hardly anyone uses them.

Are there platforms that throw off money like YouTube does?

When you move the border, you still have a border. You can never get rid of “borderline content.” This is why we should always defend those at the border.

“Gotta love the orwellian speak. They’re not “banning” speech - they’re “protecting” people from “hate speech”.”

It’d the way they are trying to skirt the laws that prevent them from being sued as long as they aren’t “censoring”.

Everything just gets called “hate speech”.

Google, Facebook, and Twitter should be referred to collectively as “The Big Brother Coalition”.

I read something today that I have known for years, but I thought of it in the Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter realm.

Those who fail remember are destined to repeat.

Those entities are trying to remove all references to Nazism and authoritarianism.

Hmmmmmm.

Conservatives are going to need to replicate the entire ecosystem: short-form, long-form (blogging), video (for vlogging), crowdfunding, etc.

This is true, but we may need a number of multi-millionaire investors to back the initially low-revenue platforms. Might be a great post-Presidency project for the Trump Companies. :)

Ain’t that the truth. Just yesterday I saw some official from the Democrat Socialists of America saying they were about to roll out a big YouTube initiative. Will they find that to be “borderline”? Not likely.

It’s too late for the alternate platform route. Conservatives should have been thinking about this a decade ago.

All that can be done is to swallow hard, put your free market nervous nellieism in the closet, and start swinging the big Antitrust hammer.

Failure to do this will mean GAME OVER within just a few short years.

Not just speech, but ultimately The Left must control of all content available to people. For instance, History Channel would fall under this banhammer for showing documentary footage of (gasp) Nazis. Remember when that was the near 100% content of that network, back before Ancient Aliens? Yeah. The Hitlery Channel, we used to call it.

Anyway, the reasoning (if you can call it that) is that if people had no idea Nazis existed, then they couldn't become Nazis like over 50% of America clearly is right now: Red armbands, goose-stepping, and looking sharp in that Hugo Boss gear. This is unironically what they believe. Leftists live in perpetual fear of the collected wisdom of humanity, because truth invalidates all of their deeply held beliefs. They cannot change their beliefs, so they will change reality instead.

The test for impeachment and censorship is now officially based on whimsy. This is the left’s definition of what’s constitutional.

Won’t work. They’re shutting down domains too. Just racist sites for now. Daily Stormer was kicked off dozens of times a couple if years ago. Just recently a whole bunch of websites, some just covering black crime, have been shut down as well and will need to setup shop somewhere else—usually with foreign country companies.

Steps are being taken to also strip right wing websites of the ability to collect funds.

Pretty soon we’ll need to build our own banks too.

We are at the point where the republic lives or dies with every election. The next time the Rats win it’s over.

We have to get lucky every time; they only have to get lucky once. That's what they say about terrorists, and for the same reasons.
