If you want to follow a legal battle by someone who knows what hes talking about, you could not do better than reading Legal Insurrection, William Jacobsons website. For some time now hes been documenting the lawsuit filed by Gibsons Bakery, a five-generation family bakery near Oberlin College that was boycotted based on false claims of racism after they had several students arrested for shoplifting, a crime to which the students pled guilty.
a black male Oberlin College student was stopped for shoplifting wine at Gibsons Bakery and Market in downtown Oberlin, OH. Gibsons had been in existence since 1885, was frequented by students, and also provided baked goods to the college dining halls. A scuffle ensued that was joined by two black female Oberlin College students accompanying the male shoplifter and apparently acting in concert with him. All three eventually would plead guilty to shoplifting and aggravated trespassing, and would avow that Gibsons was not engaged in racial profiling.students at the college immediately declared that Gibsons was guilty of racial profiling, and large protests were organized outside the bakery. Flyers were passed out claiming Gibsons was racist and had a long account of racial profiling and discrimination. The Oberlin College Dean of Students Meredith Raimondo allegedly participated in handing out the flyers in front of the bakery.
*snip*
[T]he school put on the stand an expert who offered up a ridiculously low sum ($35 thousand dollars) for the loss Gibsons sustained.
The jury saw it otherwise. It granted the plaintiffs $11 million dollars in compensatory damage and this may be raised to $33 million dollars when this week the jury considers punitive damages.

What happened to the thieving students? Were they expelled from Oberlin?
They were probably given extra credit for their SJW grievance studies classes.
What goes around comes around.
Oberlin had it coming.
most likely given tenured positions on the faculty...
Gibsons Bakery and College...established in 1855.
President Allyn D. Gibson
Emeritus Professor of Baking and Ethics Allyn W. Gibson Sr.
Director of Student Affairs and Pastries David Gibson.
Future Student Coordinator for Minorities and Ice Cream David Gibson Jr.
As in the Gibson family member was on the floor with the male on top, while waling away, while the two members of the fairer sex were kicking Gibson.
Probably pleaded down to shoplifting and aggravated trespassing with the caveat that they state that being caught shoplifting wasn't about race. There's a lot of spotty information on the timings of the post theft/assault Oberlin actions. Basically, the school immediately went into TDS tantrums, since the event happened the day of/after HRC's humiliation.
As for the gang of three, Oberlin wouldn't expel them because the school had recently succumbed to BLM bs.
I seriously doubt even if the trio were caught on camera raping and murdering Oberlin's president, it wouldn't be enough to get them expelled.
Former department heads and administrative staff that supported campaign against the Gibson Bakery now learning to code and baking under court supervision.
PING.
As a matter of fact, the main thief was charged and admitted that he tried to shoplift the wine. I’m sure it was some kind of plea bargain but he also stated the Gibsons are not racist and he is guilty of everything he was accused of.
The problem with all of this is the young man’s statements were made after all he// broke loose and the damage was done. Too bad the college didnt pay any attention to what he said.

Thanks for the Clarice ping Jane. Did you see this? Oberlin's insurance company may refuse to help with the monetary charges.
GREAT!
Feldman provides some great links in this article.

The college administration allegedly . . .
Gibsons alleged long-term damage to its business and reputation for the allegedly defamatory accusations and other torts.
I hope the "alleged" era doesn't last as long as George Will's "oxymoron."
