My mind usually looks at: Are there subsidies involved (on whatever products), what autos (or anything else) are involved, and who ultimately will foot the bill for those subsidies.

I didn’t think about the points you brought up and I am glad that you did.

Thanks for the information!

The only thing I can imagine this is about is that they are worried that they won’t be able to sell as many of their pathetic electric cars if the gas cars can meet the standards.

Regulation increases burdens on corporations, and so limit the ability for new business to enter the markets. Tooling up for those from scratch is a huge barrier to entry. Big corporations, from manufactures to banks love them for that reason.

Anyone who thinks these companies want to have anything to do with a “free market it” are fools.

This is just plain nut-job territory.

This is a Leftist mem.

It’s the latest tactic of using lies to try and denigrate Trump.

A lot of people will buy it. I’m not.

Thanks.

So they pumped a lot of money into this crap and now they are afraid they won’t see a return?

Without the rainbows and unicorns Obama standard it's hard for even corrupt Congress Critters to justify huge subsidies on electric vehicles.

Screw em', lower the standard and make cars for California only sales in California if they have to. Corporations in love with regulations for the sake of their ease of distribution and possible lawsuits from the State of California can fight it out in court and stop selling vehicles in California if they have to. It's flat out stupid for the rest of the country to be held hostage to California State laws and regulations, PERIOD.

Everyone in California can ride a motorcycle as is fitting for the third world chithole that State is working so hard to become.

What you wrote is true, but the last successful new car company in the US was Chrysler (Tesla may or may not last). So there’s not going to be any new competition, except the Chinese, and they’re coming regardless.

So who in the hell is telling these CEO’s that they have to follow looser restrictions? Something weird about this article.

This is right out of Atlas Shrugged. The complicit businesses who adapt to the demands of oppressive government and expect thus to gain advantage by selling out— are now found to be defending the corruption that they decided to accommodate.

Exactly.

Getting to 30 mpg wasn’t too hard.
Getting to 40 mpg is very hard.
Getting to 52 mpg is almost impossible, especially in a car that people actually WANT to buy. People are still buying gas-thirsty trucks and SUVs in big numbers. Getting people to change their behavior is a huge problem. Under Obama, gasoline was headed (artificially) to $10/gallon where the libs wanted it which would have forced people to buy these ultra-high mpg blobs. I don’t think anybody predicted what a huge success fracking would be at holding the line on gasoline prices.

What they are whining about is they can’t make a profit IF California and a few liberal puke states have their own standards for cars allowed to be sold.

The car makers rightly know that radically rules will force them to make two different cars depending on the state that they are sold in.

News flash! Cars and trucks would cost 30-40% less if rabid barking moonbats weren’t designing them in fantasy land Calif.org.

pure BS!!! deregulation simply means they don't have to be as stringent, nothing forcing them to change their production methods, they can still be as green as they want to be

By reducing barriers to entry.
Regulation is often seen as a shield against competition.

They are afraid there will be start ups, all taking a piece of the pie.

Also, they had worked so hard to keep the working poor Charles, and now they will be able to afford cars. And what if they build simple cars that anybody can work on? Who will buy the existing stock?

The horror.

“Untenable Instability”

TRANSLATION - We spent billions to abide the new Obamunist rules, money that other manufacturers (Navistar, Saab, Volvo, etc.) could not compete with. Now you want us to go back to competing on an even footing?
