The amount of snow blanketing the Sierra Nevada is even larger than the 2017 snowpack that pulled the state out of a five-year drought, California water officials said.
As of Thursday, the snowpack measured 202% of average after a barrage of storms throughout winter and spring, according to the Department of Water Resources.
The wet weather has slowed but not stopped, with thunderstorms prompting flash flood warnings Sunday in the central and southern parts of the state.
At this time last year, the snowpack measured 6% of average — making this year 33 times bigger than 2018, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
In 2017, the snowpack measured 190% of average.
The snowpack supplies about 30 percent of state water needs.
In the Tahoe Basin, Squaw Valley ski resort has seen so much snow it plans to keep its slopes open until least July 5. In May alone, Squaw recorded 37 inches (94 centimeters).

The Global Warming scientists predicted there would be no snow in the Sierras after 2020.
So at least there will be no drought this year.

The spillway should be open on Monday, the dam's been just a few feet short of full pool for quite a while now. Most of the off flow has been going through the power plant, but we've had some heavy thunderstorm action adding to the inflows.
All in all, hope that MWD in SoCal and Bay Cities water gets out their checkbooks to pay for the repairs and goes back to actually paying for maintenance.
I feel like I'm getting over on the man because according to the brilliant AOC, I will only have to pay 11 1/2 years of it. That other 18 1/2 years will just have to be somebody else's problem.

I hope the fish in the pacific apprecIate all this new water we are giving them. Especially since we pay so much for each cup of water we use in the 5 mo this of desert heat.
All I know rktman is when we left Gardnerville for the Bay Area two weeks ago via Carson Pass, it was clear until, 88 turned westward then it started to snow and by the time we were at Carson Summit, the temp. was 26F, and it continued until we got down to around 4,000ft.

My wife mentioned she read that Colorado is now considered out of drought conditions.
