Business software maker Salesforce is telling gun retailers they must stop selling AR-15s if they want to continue using the companys business applications.
The Washington Post reports that Salesforce is a $120 billion San Francisco-based company whose skyscraper towers over the city as the tallest building and a major landmark.
They are now telling customers who sell firearms that they are barred from using Salesforce technology to market products, manage customer service operations and fulfill orders unless they cease selling AR-15s.
Salesforces Acceptable Use Policy goes beyond a ban on AR-15s, to include any semiautomatic firearms that have the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any of the following: thumbhole stock, folding or telescoping stock, grenade launcher or flare launcher, flash or sound suppressor, forward pistol grip, pistol grip (in the case of a rifle) or second pistol grip (in the case of a pistol), [and/or] barrel shroud.
The policy also makes clear that gun retailers cannot sell high capacity magazines if they want to use Salesforce software.

WalMart and West Marine sell flare guns... will they cancel their contracts?
Go ahead and call 1-800-667-6389. Then press one. I did.
They will act clueless but when they are talking to you they will not be trying to harm some innocent person by selling them tainted bait.
Only if that flare gun is a peripheral for an AR-15.
‘Salesforce Customer service:
1 (800) 667-6389’
Thanks, we may have A LOT of questions to ask them, beginning with which specific models and years are affected, does this relate to hand guns in any ways, maybe paintballs [with detachable stock], perhaps other weapons.
No doubt we’ll be quite busy asking for clarification, as we’d hate to violate their Terms of Service.
Amen. Let loose the hounds of law!
Reading the tea leaves, I assume anyone who doesn’t own an AR 15 at this point in time, doesn’t wont to.
Salesforce just decided to reduce their business. Many software programs out there.
My my. I must assume these cretins do the same to any customer selling dangerous stuff - tobacco, alcohol, knives, etc.

That won’t end well. Hopefully they receive meaningful objections and not death threats, which don’t help the cause.
It was a matter of time before something lime this happened, though. Credit card companies were starting to make threats, and large tech companies will continue to pull stunts like this. All the businesses can do is switch their software until they find one that won’t threaten their livelihood.
Salesfarce will soon be begging them to come back. I hope the retailers know how to curse.
I think you're correct ... SAAS ... software as a service ... runs in the "cloud" ... which is nothing more than someone else's computer ... and management falls for this crap ... over ... and over ... and over again ... suckers ...
Isn’t corporate political side taking actually worse than thugs confronting people in restaurants? Nauseating and aggravating.
And dangerous to us good people.
Appropriate responses go well beyond boycotts and other "free-market" activities. Expressly political retaliation is called for, including punitive legislation, adverse enforcement of regulations, and other things more severe.
Once corporate executives tear down rule-of-law in favor of ideological coercion, they can expect no further protection from any law.
Very, very, expensive ... and risky ...
Republicans need to pass federal legislation that it is illegal to target business that you don’t like and exclude your product from those companies, like this idiot software company. and like banks who did the same thing with gun retailers
These retailers, selling guns, are engaging in a legal business and these suppliers should not have a right to withhold their services. Even the cake baker did not attempt to withhold his services of baking a cake, he refused to make an endorsement of gay marriage on the cake. Okay banks and software companies, suppliers, do not need to endorse the gun retailer but should be compelled to provide the service.
This will require expressly political retaliation. And some large corporations must be bankrupted as a consequence "pour encourager les autres".
A difficult project to be sure. We are going to have to do it.
Of course they can. Its a private company. Just like if I was a business owner, I could choose not to sell supplies to abortion clinics. And that would be my legal rights. I dont agree with their stance, but this is still America. You should not be forced to do business with someone you dont want to do business with
Is it a requirement that people living and working in San Francisco have a mandatory Stupid Pill prescription?
So then, by that logic, you would force my business to do business with an abortion clinic?
