The disastrous and embarrassing Green New Deal resolution, which Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced in part, turned out to be a massive failure.
By failure, I mean that not only did it fail to pass in the U.S. Senate, but many Americans even on the left didnt want it to happen. Why? Because it would crush an untold number of jobs in the energy sector, leaving middle-class, hard-working American families in a bad situation.
But that doesnt mean the GND warriors on the left have given up. In fact, theyve changed their strategy from pushing it to a state level and recently scored their first victory, according to Daniel Turners opinion piece for Fox News.
Environmental groups across the country have figured out how to get a deal similar to the Green New Deal, and it involves cashing in favors with Democratic governors and state legislators.
Turner implied thats what happened in New Mexico in March when Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the GND-like bill, known as the Energy Transition Act. The new law will require the state to transition to 100-percent carbon-free energy.
In other words, its a carbon tax. That phrase isnt typically used because its not voter-friendly.
As Turner points out, this type of radical law will hurt more than it helps. From increased utility bills and loss of state revenue to thousands of lost jobs for energy workers, itll mean drastic change for the state.
In the mean time, green energy companies will line their pockets and their CEOs probably wont lose much sleep over it.
Turner summed up the new strategy perfectly.
Green groups have effectively rebranded carbon tax as renewable energy mandates and to get the same results: the end of fossil fuels. Force the elimination of low-cost energy sources and mandate high-cost renewables. Send the bill to customers. Say its for the earth and voilà, green energy companies get rich, he wrote.
While this type of bill might work for some states, ones that have vast oil, coal and gas reserves would suffer greatly.
What if this kind of bill was passed in a state like Wyoming or Virginia? The ramifications would be unspeakable for its residents, who depend on the coal industry to survive.
But the shadowy eco-warriors plotting to pass these bills state by state apparently dont care about everyday people, because deals such as this make a select few who are involved wealthy.
Some people will get very rich if the Green New Deal were to become law. We should all be curious who those people are. And which politicians they financially back, Turner wrote. Hes right on the money.
The passage of this bill needs more attention so that American voters are in the know. Right now, theyre generally unaware its happening. Even scarier, it could spread quickly.
For the sake of Americas strong economy, its time to expose these groups and block the shadows in which they work.
Cars should be banned in New Mexico.
They will be.
No Gasoline.................
Lost 40 pounds the past 3 months JUST IN CASE.
Another 50 to go to be very prepared for whatever comes our country’s way.
I NEVER took the CWII folks on this board seriously, to say the least. Now I do, though I hope it never comes.
More concerned about a slow creep, like the nazis did to Jews in the 1930’s.
Taking a bunch at a time slowly is a smarter strategy for the powers that be.
The solar market gained a lot of grants and loans and then went belly up. Its a nightmare. Wind farms and solar farms kill the earth but the greenies dont care.
I hope the hardest hit are the idiots that voted for her.
Total insanity does not sell well.....even to the insane.
New Mexico is going to need a lot of water before it can participate in green anything.
States are the laboratories of demoracy. I support New Mexico’s efforts to finally make communism work. Just don’t come begging to the rest of us when it fails.
You too? I knew I thought you were right about lotsa things. (which if you had any sense, it would horrify you to have me agree with you)
I’ve been losing some lbs too, and for the same reason. When I was young and I’d hear the 2nd amendment was to protect us from tyranny, or to support a militia, I took it as a quaint bit cool thing from our past. Nothing that would ever really be needed in this world.
But these days, I’m not so sure. They openly talk about a genocide party and having me as a white christian hetero nationalist as the guest of honor.
Getting creepy out there.
(and how does an Italian lose weight anyway? Must be especially tough)
The NM Energy Transition Act is an 82 page monstrosity, clearly written in legalese by someone else... Bastards.
The whole carbon tax scheme was hatched at a company called Enron folks. Look it up. It’s a complete fraud.
I DO NOT like the way the winds are blowing.
Plua I was gonna have a heart attack lol
REAL Italian food, and not Italian American food, is very healthy, actually.
NEVER overweight eating Italian. Got overweight with fast food :(
I am staying away for a while though I love it.
And good for you man.
I still have another 50 definitely.
But at one point after being home a long time from injury. I had 150 to lose.
So I’ll take the 50 :)
No, no, no, no.
Carbon Tax.
Say it with me... "CARBON TAX".
That's what it is, so call it that.
The Affordable Care Act ACA). What the hell was that?
THEIR name for Obamacare.
According to EIA estimates from 2016 NM produced 2,322 thousand megawatt Hours using natural gas or coal and only 657 thousand megawatt Hours of “renewable” electric. Enjoy your high bills and rolling blackouts.

Well they have to test this disaster someplace so why not there
New Mexico is one of the poorest states in the nation AND one of the dumbest and most ignorant. It’s a s..t hole state, 2 elitist towns and rest is ugly and poor. I can see how they fell for this.
I think they’ll be overrun by Illegals and The Drug Cartels before they get started ,LOL
