These rumors have been around for decades and many are likely true. He was not the saint he was portrayed.
If the stories are true, the timing would be of interest. Was MLK leading a double life all along? Or did he go bad at some point after fame and adulation went to his head?
Much like JFK he’s been canonized because of his untimely death, but his personal life was hardly saintly.

Clue 4. Not an oz of concern for the King family
Clue 5. Watch media spin
No reason why they should have to be. I mean, look at Oscar Wilde, a notorious fudge-packer whose artistic works nonetheless still suck.
He obviously couldn't say what was going on, but he did say that MLK always had a couple of long legged, red headed white women come up the back stairs and join him in his room during his stay.
Could have been consultants or something I guess, but I always suspected...

To my mind, this is less about what than why the reveal now.
The private lives of many of the “great men” of history are anything but inspirational. That doesn’t change the positive impact they had on history. It only shows that we’re all sinners and that great deeds are often accomplished despite our flaws, not because of them. Being able to make that distinction is key to a mature appreciation of history.
Bad enough that he was a Republican.
