Donald Trump's Friend Boris Johnson Set to Become U.K. Prime Minister Imminently
Newsweek ^ | May 23, 2019 | Shane Croucher

With the messy Brexit process having doomed British Prime Minister Theresa May’s leadership, the person most likely to take over for her, fulfilling his lifelong ambition, is Boris Johnson, the former British foreign secretary whom President Donald Trump calls a friend.

Johnson is a favorite both among Conservative members of Parliament—and the bookmakers—to succeed May, whose government he quit last year in protest over her Brexit plans. The upper-class former London mayor, a leading Brexiteer, is to his fans an eccentric, affable character who embodies the essence of British identity.

To his critics, Johnson is a shameless, malleable, and gaffe-prone opportunist who seeks power as an end in itself. And to Trump, Johnson is a friend who would make a good prime minister, having said as much during his U.K. visit last July.

May, who is deeply unpopular, could resign by Sunday after what is expected to be a disastrous performance for her Conservative Party in the European parliamentary elections on Thursday. Both those who voted to remain in the European Union and those who backed leaving it have fled to rival parties.

Britain would be out of the EU already if Johnson had been in charge 3 years ago, instead of the hopelessly incompetent Theresa May.

Would someone please tell me what a “Shane Croucher” is? Is that some creature that inhabits the UK? Or perhaps a bird of some kind?

One itty bitty second guess of Trump. He should have had cameras in that meeting. It is not an unfamiliar idea to him. He knew he was going to do what he did so there was no “temper tantrum.” He could have waited for Pelosi to say her piece and then a day later released the camera footage.

This writer doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Boris Johnson is deeply unpopular among Conservative MPs, even despised.

A lot of people were wrong on Trump, and came around and saw the errors of their ways, Boris is one of them.

Will he be able to reverse the headlong rush to sharia that is overtaking the UK?

Former UK MP John Browne (he keeps close tabs on UK politics while living in the U.S.) said this morning on Fox that Nigel Farage's star is in ascendancy and there are behind the scenes machinations underway to get Nigel installed in an MP seat so that he can be in the running for PM.

I don't know enough about UK politics to know how this would occur but it would certainly be a wonderful turn of events if it became a reality.

I wish I could be as quick to forgive and forget. These people weren’t just against Trump personally, they were against all of his supporters.

Maybe he can start to roll back the tide of fascism that has engulfed the country and colonies such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
