The Washington Examiner reported yesterday that an IRS complaint filed by the National Legal and Policy Center alleges that a charity run by the wife of Rep. Elijah Cummings received millions from special interest groups and corporations that had business before her husbands committee and could have been used illegally. Cummings is the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. His wife, Maya Rockeymore, is the chairman of the Maryland Democratic Party. Despite once being deep in debt, Cummings' financial situation has improved since marrying Rockeymore in 2008.
Rockeymoore runs two entities, a nonprofit group called the Center for Global Policy Solutions and a for-profit consulting firm called Global Policy Solutions, LLC, whose operations appear to have overlapped, according to the IRS complaint filed by watchdog group the National Legal and Policy Center on Monday. The complaint states that the arrangement may have been used to derive "illegal private benefit."
Global Policy Solutions received more than $6.2 million in grants between 2013 and 2016, according to tax records. Several of the nonprofit groups financial backers which included Google, J.P Morgan, and Prudential have business interests before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Cummings has served as Democratic chairman of the committee since January and previously served as ranking member.
The largest contributor to the nonprofit organization was the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a company that is regulated by Cummings committee. The foundation, which gave a total of $5.5 million to Rockeymoores consulting firm and $5.2 million to her nonprofit group, ceased supporting her groups in 2017.
When a powerful chairman of a committee of the House of Representatives has a wife that is bringing in money from entities with interests before his Committee and she is not providing the transparency mandated by the IRS, there's a serious problem, said Tom Anderson, director of the National Legal and Policy Centers Government Integrity Project. The potential for corruption in this situation is simply off the charts and can't be understated. Anderson is calling on Cummings and his wife to provide the public with the legally mandated documents all charities must disclose.
Neither Cummings nor his wife chose to speak with the Washington Examiner, but Rockeymore did release a statement yesterday calling the allegations an attempt to silence her and her husband.It appears a conservative front group and a news outlet . . . are pushing a hit piece filled with faulty research, lies and innuendo in an attempt to tarnish my personal reputation, professional work and public service as well as that of my spouse. Cummings released his own statement, writing off the allegations as a fabricated distraction from the important work being done on behalf of Americans, such as lowering the skyrocketing prices of prescription drugs.
As chairman of the House Oversight committee, Elijah Cummings has been leading the effort to obtain Trump's tax returns and financial records, but is apparently unwilling to live up to his own alleged standard of transparency. Now that a genuine conflict of interest and illegal/unethical behavior appears to have been discovered, it really makes the fishing expedition he's leading against Trump that much more hypocritical.

Let’s have a look at your tax return. Sauce for the goose, right?
Ouch!!! Wow, pretty much screws them. If this were myself or some other private citizen, we’d already be in jail seeking a lawyer.
Its why congressmen become congressmen. They all need to disclose their tax returns.
Damn, you mean I put the checks in the wrong account? Well EXCUSSSSSE ME!
File a complaint with the “Ethnics” committee?
Waste of time.
Good press though!
I’ve noticed that if a Congressman or woman uses racism in any of their arguments, they are using this guise to deflect attention from their illegal or improper financial actions. The NAACP members do this regularly as do many ethnic local politicians. Cummings is no exception as the louder he became the more suspicious I was of his personal financial actions. Stacy Abrams is highly suspect in this matter. Note the financial actions of the Muslims in Congress.
Looting the treasury is what Democrats (Communists) do best.
Democrap Cummings is not exactly an intellectual giant-----more of a braindead midget.
So they had to come up with a simplistic ripoff that tied into Cummings
House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chair.
His second wife, Maya Rockeymoore, 48, is the chairman of the Maryland Democratic Party
and briefly ran in the state's gubernatorial race last year. The couple married in 2008.
Ms Rockeymoore runs two entities whose operations appear to have overlapped,

<><> a nonprofit called the Center for Global Policy Solutions, and,
<><> a for-profit consulting firm called Global Policy Solutions, LLC.

This scam is sophmorically easy to pull off, even for a moron like Cummings. It is very common for shysters in business to open bank ccounts with similar names as the legit buiness in order o siphon off money to hide it from partners, associates, investors, the IRS, etc.
Here's how Cummings and his wife siphoned off huge amounts for themselves.
<><> early on they established two entities, one non-profit and a for profit.
<><> as the money poured into the N/P, Cummings and Rockymoore systematically transferred monies to the private company with a similar name.
Keep in mind, the private company, unlike the N/P, is exempt from reporting all of their significant expenditures like he n/p does
SIPHONINGS A CINCH Its so easy even a sub-human retard can siphon off money by putting checks into the new accounts with similar names, depositing checks that were made out to the original entity. Even your bank advises that if a check-writer mis-spelled your name, to just endorse the check with the correct name.
AND PRESTO: a check made out to N/P Global Policy Solutions, is deposited in the for profit Global Policy Solutions LLC account.
YAWN.
Let me know when Al Sharpton is prosecuted for his federal crimes.
The Bank Secrecy Act should be mobilized----to follow the paper trail and determine how money changed hands among (a) CBC (b) the CBC Foundation; (c) leftist black identity groups and elected black members.
Taxpayers must Demand that the scope and dimension of collusion in sub rosa deals be examined, as to who might be personally profiting and if financing domestic terrorism is being facilitated.
<><> L/E needs to examine bank accounts of the aforementioned.
<><> Joint bank accounts might be used to facilitate the transfer funds from one account to another, and/or wire-transferred offshore;
<><> To cover their tracks, fake invoices might be created to show that money deposited into CBC accounts was being used for legitimate purposes.
<><> Financial schemes scheme might be advanced by issuing phony statements of payments from financial sources that actually covered the transfer of funds for insiders' personal use and/or for financing domestic terrorism.
Shady banking transactions could be prosecuted under the (1) Bank Secrecy ACT, (2) RICO, and, (3) the Hobbs Act.
=============================================
<><> L/E should get ahold of: (1) copies of CBC checks, (2) wire transfers, (3) account statements, (4) invoices, (5) bills, (6) delivery tickets, (7) CBC correspondence including snail mail, e-mail, mobile devices, cell phones, (8) contracts, (9) loan agreements, (10) other account books or official records.
L/E should also explore (a) monies paid to brokers, sub-brokers, (b) family members, (c) mortgage brokers, (d) financial managers, and, (e) real estate agents, brokers, and developers.
<><> L/E should scrutinize CBC members bank accounts for suspicious activities: (A) large deposits, (B) funds transferred from one account into another, (C) frequent requests for withdrawals.
<><> CBC bank records might also show diversions to secret LLC accounts, to money launder and to operate personal ventures;
Tax fraud may also be a factor, facilitated by withdrawals, gift cards purchases, credit card purchases and intra-bank transfers from legal bank accounts into personal accounts, or redistribution schemes.
<><> A huge tipoff is whether bank withdrawals support luxurious lifestyle including payments for real estate, investment and stock holdings, jewelry, luxury vehicles, resort travel....... and gifts and purchases from luxury outlets.
I just started a for profit business to help out charities. Had to contract with a non profit to process the payments and then send the money to the approved charities. Once we’re up and running for awhile I’m planning on starting my own non profit to process the payments and bypass the middle man. Just seems the easiest way to do it and it’s perfectly legal....as long as you don’t mix the monies and a few other qualifiers.
These people are just crooks.
Yep. The road to riches is paved with voters, then lobbyists. A Sale on their votes.
Yes, the Pres. should tell the 'rats, 'You first. Unwrap your returns for public scrutiny and I'll do the same.'
Include spouses, children.
Cummings is a side show of stupidity who helps sell new televisions by the aggravated response so many have when they see poor old Elijah snorting and spitting at some outrage the repugnicans have been perceived to have done.
Jail! Oh, I forgot! Inborn immunity.
Wholesale interviews on the case. Indict all the staff who knew.
I want to see worthless scumbag Cummings in an orange jumpsuit. Useless waste of protoplasm.
Follow the money...
