The times, they are a changing.
Abortion in the United States had become a tiring topic of debate over the last few decades. The fact is, no matter much the pro-life side argued against pro-choice opposition, very little changed in terms of legislation, but that is rapidly changing as we speak. The reason for this change is that the conversation on the issue has shifted.
For years we debated on a womens right to choose but we never went into detail about what that choice was. We debate on a womans body but not the life inside of it. We have been told abortion is normal, but havent gone into detail about what that process is. When talking about ending a life, we are told that it isnt a baby and we arent terminating anything but a clump of cells or an embryo. So why has this changed over the last couple of years? Because films such as Unplanned and Gosnell: Americas Biggest Serial Killer have exposed the ugly truths of the abortion industry that most people have been blind to for decades, and the media is NOT happy.
It is undeniable the effect that pro-life films are having on our nations discourse. Many people who considered themselves to be moderate on the issue are changing their tune because there is now information and science to suggest that abortion isnt simply the harmless procedure we have been sold all these years. Meanwhile, members of the media who have long created the romanticized outlook of abortion are not too pleased that people are having their minds changed. Look no further than Jia Tolentinos New Yorker hit piece on Unplanned and Gosnell.

The thing that bothers me about the whole abortion debate is that it is treating unwanted pregnancies like the problem. They are merely a symptom on the problem. Save the babies is good, but it would be FAR better to follow the moral laws we are supposed to follow and don’t make any babies until married and able to raise them properly.
Yes, the extremists on the "pro-life" side will continue to hysterically refuse to acknowledge any difference whatsoever between, say, a blobby zygote and what actually is a near-term, "unborn baby," but after decades of arrogant, heartless, creepy propaganda by the "pro-death" side and after the recent spate of truly terrifying laws and proposed laws in New York State, Virginia, and elsewhere, I have utterly nil interest in helping the pro-abortion propagandists. They wanted intolerant extremism, well, they've got intolerant extremism -- on the side of banning nearly all abortions. Ho, ho, ho, how do they like them apples?
Frankly, if Roe v. Wade is ultimately junked by a resurgent conservative bloc on the Supreme Court, I'll break out the popcorn and settle down to watch leftist heads explode like rotten cantaloupes all over the country. It'll be extremely entertaining in a grim way. :/
In most Orthodox Churches the upper portion of the apse is filled with the Playtera, the Icon of Mary the Theotokos (God-bearer).
Jesus, her Divine child is shown in utero yet sitting regally as though on a throne. Her arms are raised in a gesture of prayer and praise My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my savior (Luke 1:46-47)
So it would be most appropriate to state that
The Orthodox Church is gynocentric.
But how many people will spend even 10 minutes thinking through the scope of what we're dealing with here?
But think this through with me. You say "the extremists on the "pro-life" side will continue to hysterically refuse to acknowledge any difference whatsoever between, say, a blobby zygote and what actually is a near-term, "unborn baby,"
Is that really true?
Nobody denies the difference in size, weight, tissues, organs and systems, between a new embryo that looks like a brine shrimp and a perinatal baby that's somersaulting, smiling, and could probably use a cell phone.
But the differences between different individuals' rump-to-crown length, bone mass or whatever, are not relevant to the question of intrinsic human dignity. We don't award the right to life by weight, or give big chubbaloobas extra respect for being jumbo size.
In the one fundamental thing --- the right to not be crushed, poisoned or dismembered, the right to simply go on living--- they are the same. The embryo in the uterus, the ethicist in the seminar room, the imbecile liberal comedian on TV, the President in the Oval Office, all have exactly the same status in this one respect, that as long as we live, no one has the right to make us dead.
And why? Because we're the same kind: humankind. WE are not to be slain.
Axios!
They’re progressives, so by definition they’re eugenics supporters. Therefore, any reduction n abortions undermines their racist agenda.
Another thing that has had a huge impact is the quality of the ultrasound pictures and how early they do them, depending on the doctor or health reasons. People proudly pass those ultrasound pictures around, post on social media- and it is impossible to look at them and believe you are not seeing a baby. The old “clump of cells” story just doesn’t work for anyone that isn’t already completely brainwashed.
Exactly! If abortion isn’t shocking enough for you then consider finishing off the “product of conception” (9 months!) after it dared to be born. I think that caught a lot of people by surprise and made them recoil in horror.
Thank you, God !!!!!!!
One thing I’ve noticed arguing and convincing pro-abortionists is to not bring the religious angle into it. As a Catholic I see abortion as a high sin and great evil.
but to lead with that closes off the pro-abortionists.
So I appeal to their humanity (they try to replace God with “humanitarianism”) - and abortion fails even that basic level - if as a society we can’t protect the innocent, then what are we?
