Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who voted to block President Donald Trump's border national emergency declaration, has said there is a "real crisis" on the southern border.
"I hope people in both parties, as well as people across the country, realize there's a real crisis right now at our southern border. We are at a rate of about 1 million people a year trying to cross into the country," Romney said in a Facebook video posted in April. "These are folks we're not able to properly evaluate, investigate and to vet and as a result, we don't know exactly who they are and why they want to come here. It's a real security risk and it's overwhelming our systems, particularly in our border states. So, it's a crisis and we have to deal with this on an urgent basis."
Romney was asked why he voted to block the declaration if there is a currently a crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border.
"There's a constitutional approach to providing for border fencing and I believe the president had access to the necessary billions of dollars to be able to provide that fencing and felt that the emergency declaration was unnecessary and was not consistent with constitutional principles," Romney said.
It’s all about blocking the citizens from keeping their country.
That has been the main purpose of the GOP for 30 years.
Thanks, getting old and mix up dates now and then.
Well, Senator, you could always resign and let Republican Governor Gary Herbert appoint a REAL REPUBLICAN to be Utah’s junior Senator!
When that waste of space Romney looks in the mirror all he can see is a total WIMP!
Looking at President Trump reminds him of that daily.
Then the Mormons should get on their bicycles and peddle their asses down across the border to do their converting.
By playing along with the illegal invaders game, if that’s what they are doing, they’re just adding themselves to the list.
The only good thing that Mitt Romney has done in politics is that he unintentionally kept Hillary out of the White House. Had Myth won in 2012, he would have run against Hillary in 2016 and been slaughtered. As bad as Obama was and Myth would have been, Hillary would be worse by several magnitudes.
Doesn’t matter. Your point is well taken. They foisted.
First they foisted McCain.
Then they foisted Romney.
In 2015/2016 they attempted to foist the stupidest Bush in the stupid Bush brood and Trump unfoisted that attempt with a single comment: “low energy”.
Tell that to members who were for Rick Perry and got horribly abused by Romney supporters in last election.
FR totally fell for Romney.
Mitt Romney is both Traitor & Turncoat to POTUS,Trump & the entire USA..period. But...It is really the butt heads in the state of Utah that voted for this buffoon, Trump, America Hater, that are the real culprits...what dummies these Utah Mormons must be!!!
I mean come on....CNN’s Candy “Fatbutt” Crowely ate Romney’s lunch and wiped up the floor with him in a 2012 POTUS Debate!!! Romney & McCain...birds of a feather, ply treason together!!!
The Deep State needed a replacement for McCain
[[Does he ever shut up? What is the matter with Utah voters???]]
The majority of them are romney clones apparently- that’s what’s the matter with them
Mitt’s Daddy came from Meh-Hee-Co.
“Just fund the wall and then get back to pontificating us.”
I don’t think it’s going to happen. They’re going to keep pulling a ‘look! There’s a Squirrel!’. Couple no wall with the wonderful Kushner Chamber of Commerce immigration plan and Trump’s going to lose his base.
I started out being for Rick Perry.
I switched to Newt.
An overlooked factor that explains his affinity.
And here all along I always thought that Mormons weren't supposed to lie.
Mormons have their form of Taqqiya.
We all know why, because you are an evil man.
Excuse not accepted.
Recycling from my analysis on a slightly different thread
Mister Romney, as with Kasich, Jeb, McCain, and a few other GOPe-ers are/were deservedly humiliated by the fact that President Trump won the election (or nom) that they could not, and also that Trump is succeeding by being the Republican that they claimed to be; however, everyone including the above knew they could never be.
Their weaknesses and squishiness on what should be rock-solid principles are on display every time Trump has another victory.
Embarrassment and jealousy and vengeance, all at the same time.
