Seveven medical conditions drivers must report in UK
I almost hit a cop once who came flying out of a private driveway with no warning, no lights, no siren. The driveway was well hidden with trees and shrubs on a 2-lane country road, and it was impossible for anyone going the direction I was going to see the cop waiting there. A safe driver would have slowly crept out so they could gain visibility themselves and to become visible to oncoming traffic.
The cop was running a vascar speed trap. It’s one of their favorite places to hide.
If I did what that cop did, and a cop saw me do it, I would surely have gotten a ticket and I would have deserved it.
Same thing happened to me in a School zone in front of Renton High School in Washington. The cop was ON FOOT. Jumped right in front of me.
And here’s the comical part: he was pointing his hand held triggered radar gun. My wife honestly thought he was pointing a gun at us.
And if I ran him down, that would have been my defense. :)
On a side note, IIRC the speed limit was 30, but the school zone speed was 20. We were doing 45. He put a sticker on my car showing the speed and directed us into a parking lot where cops were writing tickets as fast as they could. The one we got was a guy we knew. He wrote us up for 30 in a 20 mph school zone. :)

This is the exact location. The end of the driveway is clearly visible, but the cop car was totally hidden to me. The hot shot cop was more interested in filling his quota than doing his job safely.
It would have been fun to t-bone him. :)
I assume he was in his car.
As a motorist you could be fined up to £1,000 if you do not tell the DVLA about a medical condition that affects your driving.
- Diabetes or taking insulin
- Blackouts, fainting (syncope), loss of consciousness
- heart conditions (including atrial fibrillation and pacemakers)
- Sleep apnoea
- Epilepsy
- Stroke
- Glaucoma
Note that all of the above are medical conditions, not driving issues.
Yes, he was in his car.
That location is near the bottom of a long hill, so cars approaching from the direction I was traveling tend to speed up, which is exactly why the cops love that location for their trap.
I know it’s there, so I’m always careful.
giving an Arab a drivers license should be illegal. I worked in Saudi years ago and at time their death toll on the roads were greater than their population growth
Here in the sanctuary state of Illinois the deluge of foreigners here is out of control. All of them come from countries where they have never experienced cold and snow. They are all over the ditches in Winter.
Where do you live. Here in the NY metro I only see them on highways. There is one on Laurel Hill Blvd in Queens near the gate of Calvary cemetery but that spot is dangerous because, for some reason, drivers fail to see the red light as cars are exiting Calvary. 3 or 4 people have died there that I know of in the past few years.
