Mitt Romney: Trump Has Distanced Himself From ‘Humility,’ ‘Honesty, Integrity’
Breitbart ^ | May 19,2019 | Pam Key

Posted on 05/19/2019 4:22:33 PM PDT by Hojczyk

Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) said he did not believe President Donald Trump’s actions as laid out in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report rise to the level of impeachment, but the president does not exhibit the “best qualities of human character.”

Host Jake Tapper asked if Trump has “disgraced the office of the president.”

Romney said, “I think a number of things were unfortunate and distressing. Clearly the number of times there were items of dishonesty, misleading the American public and media are things you would not be want to see from the highest office in the land.”

He continued, “Abuse of power is at a whole other level, which suggests impeachment. I think in part one of the things it’s difficult in order to make a case for obstruction of justice or impeachment, not an underlying crime, I think it’s difficult to put together an effective case to prosecute for those crimes.”

He added, “I’ve made it clear I will support the president on policies where we agree. I’ll disagree with him openly if there’s something I think is wrong for the country or for my state. But I think he could substantially improve his game when it comes to helping shape the character of the country. I think young people, as well as people around the world, look at the president of the United States and say, does he exhibit the kind of qualities we would want to emulate? And those are qualities of humility, of honesty, integrity, and those are things where I think there’s been some call where the president has distanced himself from some of the best qualities of the human character.”

I don’t recall Romney criticizing Obama for a lack of humility. In fact, Obama is the most narcissistic man ever to occupy public office. A case in point:

Below you will find an excerpt of an article by Terence P. Jeffrey wherein he points out that Obama uses the first person singular (”I,” “Me,” “My”) 199 times in a speech. He compares it to Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address which contained nary a single personal pronoun! I think this proof of Obama’s hubris and narcissism.

I did some additional research in a book entitled The Eloquent President by Ronald White. I noted that Lincoln’s Second Inaugural has one personal pronoun, as in “I trust . . .”

I thought this strange. White seems to suggest that it was in poor taste to use the first person singular. Commenting on the Gettysburg Address White wrote: “The address is full of first-person references, but every one is plural. Ten times Lincoln uses the plural we and three times us . . . . In the Gettysburg Address, Lincoln says nothing of himself. At a first hearing or reading, we are aware of what is being said and not of who is saying it. Yet at a second or third hearing or reading, Lincoln’s character, the ethos or credibility, which is the first principle of Aristotle’s rhetoric, is everywhere present. His very reticence to speak about himself - how different from modern politicians - is what makes his voice by the end of the address so decisive.” An Edwin Black refers to this as a vanished ego. God, what a contrast to the current empty suit in the white house.

Lincoln’s 272 words will be remembered as long as memory lasts. Obama’s vapid and banal “Hope and Change” is all he’ll be remembered for, and that by a bunch of fawning sycophants. It’s a hollow and empty sentimentality. I can’t recall a single thing he’s ever said (or rather, read) that rises above mediocrity. God help us!

“The White House presented Obama’s speech, which the president delivered at Austin’s Paramount Theater, as “Remarks by the President on the Economy.” The remarks, the White House reports, ran 40 minutes, and the full transcript (including annotations for “laughter” and “applause”) is more than 5,500 words.

By contrast, President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was only 272 words—and did not include any form of the first person singular.

In President Obama’s speech, he used a first person singular, on average, every 12 seconds. At that rate, had Obama spoken for just 15 more minutes, he would have used the first person singular more than 272 times in one speech—exceeding all the words in the Gettysburg Address.

In one 68-word passage—in which he vowed to act unilaterally if Congress did not enact legislation he liked—Obama used the first person singular five more times than the zero times Lincoln used it in his 272 words at Gettysburg.”

President Trump needs to have a heart-to-heart talk with the leadership of the Mormon church, much like Abraham Lincoln did. In short, if they stop supporting Mitt Romney, and encourage a primary opponent for him, he will let them be. But if they continue to back his play and burning ambition, the Mormon church will enter a time of troubles.

In light of everything we know about the democrat party, he needs to change his name to Benedict Arnold Romney.

Wonder what is really going on with him? Globalism? Corruption? Or worse?

As a political professional, Romney has hit his political glass ceiling and can’t accept that fact.

As opposed to Barack Obama, who lied about a video causing the death of four Americans, told us we could "keep our doctor and keep our health plan", sicced the IRS on the Tea Party, and illegally spied on James Rosen, his parents, Sharyl Atkinson, and AP.

Glad Mitt has his priorities straight.

It really does seem Mitthole is salting the earth here. He simply prefers progressive Democrats and their open borders agenda to the Trump voting GOP base. He is trying to drive us from the party even if that means throwing elections to Democrats. So be it. Loyalty is a two way street and right now the GOPe is giving the base none.

How would Mittens know? He has not even a passing familiarity with Humility, Honesty and Integrity, much less possessing any of those qualities himself.

“Mittens, just become a Democrat already. At least then you would be honest.”

His democrat handlers armed with the CIA/FBI/NSA compromising data on him collected during the Obama era don’t want him to leave the GOP, they want him stirring the pot just like he is.

He has no choice. Probably most are compromised in that way. Sessions had to be. Ryan? Compromised. There is a whole list of GOP lunimaries.

It’s the only explanation that makes sense.

The reason they thought that they’d catch Trump is because they were so successful in 2012 spying on Mitt. They are still leveraging him.
