Egypt is fantastic - spent some time there and theres nothing on Earth like it. 99% of the people there wonderful and like Americans a lot. And 10% are Christians.
The whole point of the terrorism is to scare people away- dam shame if you let them chase you away.
Back in 92 I was responsible for 64 Marines as part of a Bright Star exercise near Cairo. There had been a terror attack that killed four people in a restaurant so the army leadership shut down liberty in town. I was able to maneuver things (the deputy commander was a Marine) and I took all of my Marines to Cairo and to the pyramids.
When certain sights and events are important/maybe once in a lifetime, dont chicken out.
Well said, Chainmail.
We always wanted to go until we saw the Egyptians celebrating the wtc attack. Now could care less about that country. My 2 cents
“World Public Opinion: 83% of Egyptians approve of attacks on American troops.”

My parents did the Egypt/Holy Land trip back around 1980.
They were off by themselves after dinner and saw a wedding procession come walking down the street with music and singing, etc. My dad convinced my mom to follow and see where they were going.
They go down the various back streets and the party goes into a building. After a bit, Dad goes up to peek through the windows.
Soon, two Egyptian guys come out and are talking with my dad. My mom is across the street in a panic. After much gesturing between the men and my dad, dad motions to my mom - come on over! My mom is even more terrified now.
The two Egyptian guys laugh and also wave her over. My parents spent the rest of the night at a table near the front, Dad joining in on the folk(?) line dancing that the men did, etc.
