Freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes Christians should back her recent credit card interest rate cap because she says the bible prohibits usury.
'Usury - aka high interest - happens to be explicitly denounced in the Bible (& in many other religions),' Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Thursday night.
'Looking forward to having the religious right uphold their principles + sign onto my bill. Unless of course they're only invoking religion to punish women + queer people,' she continued.

Full title - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez takes on the Christian right by saying the Bibles prohibition on usury backs her campaign for a 15% interest rate cap
She’s evil.
No debt based society has ever existed without debt forgiveness from the ruler (a Jubilee).
So she believes the Bible now? What percentage of it?
Low IQ ex-bartenders know SOOOO much more than free markets. How did we ever get by before AOC?
If you don’t pay 15% now I bet you’ll be paying 15% if she gets this passed
Interesting how someone that obviously disagrees with Christianity, the bible and likely the concept of God will use the bible as an weapon. Pure Saul Alinsky, Rule #4, “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”
There is no evidence to support that the Leviticus 25 Jubilee was ever implemented in ancient Israel.
Is she paying more than 15% now and wants hers lowered ,LOL
I won’t try to tell her what the communist manifesto means if she won’t try to tell me what the Bible means.
The Word I value highest is repugnant to her (so why does she invoke it, ever?); the drivel she values highest is repugnant to me (so I’m sho’nuff not gonna pull it on her).
Dems are all Bible scholars all of a sudden.
How is 15% still not usury? She’s right that usury is a sin though
Democrats use the Bible like the devil tried to with Christ.
A fifteen percent rate cap sounds reasonable. If gummit is permitted to impose such limitations on our liberty to contract - then 15 percent sounds reasonable. But theres a second problem with it- it will cut off credit to some Americans who now can get it I acknowledge that a high rate loan is undesirable but if you need money then its still a lot better to have access to funds, then not.
“the bible prohibits usury.” Only among brethren. Same among Muslims. Deuteronomy 23:19-20 English Standard Version (ESV)
19 You shall not charge interest on loans to your brother, interest on money, interest on food, interest on anything that is lent for interest. 20 You may charge a foreigner interest, but you may not charge your brother interest, that the Lord your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.
Methinks Al Cortez might have an excessive balance on her cards, and probably an unpaid student loan, she wants us to pick up the tab on.
Maybe a look into the young Representative’s finances are in order?
If so, she must abstain from voting or sponsoring any bills in the House, regarding personal finance, to avoid any appearance of bias.

Wouldn’t using the Bible to cap interest rates violate “the separation of church and state”?
