They were never actually banned. Companies simply Bowdlerized the rifles, removing the “offensive” things like bayonet lugs (Since 1900, how many people have been killed by criminals with fixed bayonets?) collapsable stocks, and flash hiders, and magazine limits.

Yes, I see your point there. But seeing their reaction, their obvious discomfort, is important in making the case against him. I honestly think he should be arrested and charged for it. At least there should be an investigation into it.
