Nobel Peace Prize nominee Greta Thunberg claims we need system change to save the planet, and the majority of experts, from the IPCC, through to our own research, would certainly agree with this.
Ideas that are presented can seem as extreme to some. This is despite the fact that many experts agree that to really tackle climate change, the focus needs to be on changing the capitalist system to make it more environment-friendly.
These are some suggestions to help build that new system which also aims to improve peoples lives in the process.
1. Less focus on economic growth
The suggestion that GDP is a good measure of a countrys progress has been frequently challenged. Pursuit of economic growth drives a wasteful use of scarce resources.
2. Higher taxes and subsidized transport
To achieve rapid and fair changes in consumer behavior, there needs to be large tax increases on the most environmentally damaging products to turn them from everyday items into luxury goods. This would include air travel, fossil fuels and red meat.
3. Work less
From an environmental perspective, working less - whether a four-day week, or working only a proportion of the year - has many benefits.
4. Think locally
To really tackle climate change, we need to think locally and understand the impact of our behaviors on our communities. Farming, energy production and waste disposal are obvious examples.
5. Learn about nature and look after it
We need to appreciate nature for what it is - and protect it now.
6. Dont just rely on technology
Technological advances must be used in conjunction with lifestyle changes if we want to transform our society in an environmentally and socially just manner.

#2 Climate Scientists must have higher taxes for a revenue stream. They do not produce any ‘value’ so it must be subsidized from the theft by government.

Thunberg is only 16 years old. So apparently we are now taking complicated scientific advice from kids.
What’s next? Maybe a group of ten-year-olds should be asked how to produce zero resistance superconductors.
Trump should have a scientific debate and get this Dracula staked, once and for all. With him, there will be no way rationalists will have their voices heard.
An Engineer would laugh at these suggestions.
Clearly the thinking of someone who has never studied Chemistry or Physics.
As I tell people....”All the easy stuff has already been done”
Pea-brained idiots.
I am an engineer and I am way beyond laughing.

LOL. The little girl next door is always telling me about how horrible climate change is (teacher says) going to be for us while she rips out every single flower she sees to bring it over to me and ask what it is. The other day she came over with cupped hands full of buds from the Dogwood tree. I told her to read a book.
#7. Reduce the footprint, kill yourself
“3. Work less - From an environmental perspective, working less - whether a four-day week, or working only a proportion of the year - has many benefits.”
I see why the party of lazy pieces of sh!t embraces this stuff...
Supervisor: “Why didn’t you come in yesterday?”
Sh!tty worker: “I was doing my part to save the environment.”

In other words Emulate Venezuela!!!
How bout
Less immigration
Wheres that?
#8- More Free sh**.
#8 Peacefully accept death as soon as possible.
Install a thermostat on the sun!
You first Greta. Get rid of all your capitalist tech stuff and become an agrarian. You and AOC can start a farm and no using diesel fuel to do it.
All these geniuses want the rest of us to live in huts with dirt floors with dung being our only source of fuel while they fly around the world in jet airliners.
I once worked for a family business and heard the grandmother say; Me and Jack(her husband) travel around the world and in most countries the workers have no cars or a big house and they seem perfectly happy. Why can’t OUR workers be like that?
And, Thunberg is somewhere on the autism spectrum. So, now we look to teenage kids with autism for scientific advice.
