Covington teenager sues NBC for $275M, lawyer says

An attorney representing Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann said Wednesday that he filed a $275 million defamation lawsuit against NBC Universal on Sandmann's behalf.

“Today, @LLinWood and I filed a $275,000,000 lawsuit against NBCUniversal on behalf of Nicholas Sandmann. The facts of the suit show the anti-Trump narrative NBC pushed so hard,” attorney Todd V. McMurtry wrote in a tweet Wednesday afternoon.

The tweet included a link to the 179-page complaint filed by McMurtry and L. Lin Wood, another attorney representing Sandmann, that accused the network of publishing “false and defamatory accusation” against Sandmann in its coverage of him earlier this year.

In the lawsuit filed Wednesday, the complaint accuses NBC Universal of attacking Sandmann in its coverage by “relying heavily on biased and unreliable sources without conducting any reasonable investigation of the circumstances surrounding the January 18 incident.”

“NBCUniversal’s attacks on Nicholas included at least fifteen defamatory television broadcasts, six defamatory online articles, and many tweets falsely accusing Nicholas and his Covington Catholic High School ('CovCath') classmates of racists acts,” the complaint states.

According to the lawsuit, Sandmann is seeking $75 million in compensatory damages and $200 million in punitive damages.

This is what happens when the Democratic Media Complex uses the 'Twitter-verse' as their source for news.

Before this is over he will have the money to go to a nice conservative college like Hillsdale. He may even have a scalp or two from the episode hanging on his mantle.

“179-page complaint.” Wow. Amazing how good lawyers can write 179 pages about a ten minute action. The Covington Kid deserve all that and more. I like how Hulk Hogan shut down Gawker in 2016. Losers in the media should be punished in this life are simply wait for the next life.

None of these sued so far, will be ‘gutted’. They will try to have the cases thrown out, and fail. At some point, they will attempt to get the kid to accept some apology and a quarter of the amount. The problem I see for them....once the Covington legal team wins the first situation (for the full amount)...these coming up behind them will be shaking in their boots, and realize the full financial impact.

My take is that this isn’t even at the halfway point on ‘targets’. If the kid wins all of these....he could be controlling an empire of three or four billion dollars. He could actually go and buy CNN then.

My wish-list is that NPR gets named as a target.

These are 2 new ones.

IIRC, they've already served THE WASHINGTON POST and maybe CNN as well.

Interesting how thin skinned the press are when they are attacked for their untrue reporting of news, but they can unilaterally ruin someone’s life unpunished. God, I hope this kid wins.

It’s 179 pages describing NBC malicious torts, which occurred over a period a lot longer than 10 minutes.

The media better hope I’m not on the Jury. They attempted to ruin this kid’s life. I would do my best to make sure he has the opportunity to do that on his own if he so choses.
