Dedicated armchair observers of insider Washington political maneuvers make a hobby of reading the tea leaves. Like the lethal version in "Game of Thrones," nothing happens by chance; there is always an underlying strategy to every decision.
Which begs the question: Why did Mueller decide to bring his investigation to a close now? Some observers thought it could go on for years — why end it before Trump's term ends? Why end it at all?
My initial reaction, like others, was that Mueller completed his report because he was finished. There were no more leads to follow, and so Mueller decided on his own to voluntarily end it. But on further consideration this seems very naïve.
Mueller and his team of rabid anti-Trumpers had every incentive to keep going indefinitely. The very existence of the Mueller investigation cast a cloud over the Trump presidency. Like every other effort from the #NeverTrump Swamp, they were seeking to hamstring Trump at every turn. Having an ongoing investigation was a valuable weapon in the anti-Trump arsenal. Why give it up?
The idea that Mueller somehow ran out of things to investigate doesn't hold water. Mueller and his team knew over a year ago (if not on day one) that there was no Trump/Russia connection. Mueller could have continued to chum the water by looking into Trump's finances or picked a few other minor players on the Trump team to harass and torture with nighttime SWAT team raids and long stints in solitary confinement. They spent the last year doing just that.
And crucially, keeping the Mueller Investigation open gave the Swamp denizens in the FBI and CIA a legal rationale to deny access to documents that would uncover their spying on the Trump campaign.

Certainly true. But not everything is locked up, and IG was enough of a threat that Mueller's "conclusions" were muted knowing he was himself going to be on the hot seat.

Barr asked for the evidence and when Mueller had none he shut it down.
Dirty Bob Mueller and his band of hilary supporters knew over a year ago that there was no collusion. But he kept the bogus political investigation going to throw the 2018 election to the democrats. Dirty Bob Mueller is the Russians.
Even if he does not go to jail or be tried for treason and executed, at least he will burn in he’ll for all eternity for the damage he did to this country.

He’s been working very hard recently for this result (looking like a stand-up kinda guy) ..... I’m guessing he had a come-to-religion meeting shortly after Barr became AG. Rosie swore an oath when he signed a FISA renewal (file stamped “Verified” in big letters on the front per Congressman John Ratcliffe, one of the few who has seen the actual FISA app docs), stating all info was verified and it was NOT. He is in grave legal jeopardy so when Barr tells him to “jump”, Rosie wants to know how high. His recent critical comments regarding Comey give me the thought that he’s “turned” and is cooperating (i.e. singing like a Canary) in Barr’s investigations against the wrong-doers in the FBI. Comey appears to be in serious legal jeopardy along with others, but unless there are indictments & jail time, all speculation & hope for true “justice” will be for naught ... time will tell.
I was going to post the link to Ratcliffe’s interview, but the video is no longer available - it was an interesting & enlightening interview. Ratcliffe is excellent.
Rosenstein was also complimentary to President Trump last week. I'm just wondering .... something's going to break loose in the very near future specific to the Shitlery Campaign and the Obama Administration manipulating the FBI .... Just a hunch of course.

Rosenweasel was never “lowly sniveling”. Rosenweasel was a bold DS coup plotting traitor. He tried to commit his traitorous acts behind the scenes. His felonious ass is very much on the line and his recent actions are only done in an effort to avoid jail time. I’m sure being a Freeper, you are aware of this hack’s actions over the past two years. “Stand up kinda guy”, absolutely not.
So why didn't President Trump fire Mueller then? Mueller's scope of the investigation wasn't expressly limited to the Collusion allegations made as we've seen with the indictment of Manafort, plea agreement with Flynn and others. Mueller clearly went where ever he wanted.
So why didn't Trump fire him? Because Trump had nothing to hide and he knew it. There's a certain genius in Trump letting this play all the way out with the very guy the Democrats wanted, then demanded he be allowed to finish the investigation witch hunt only to come up empty on him.
It exposed the batshit crazyness of the Democrat party, flushed out some of the deep state, exposed the politicization of the FBI and more.
So maybe Rosenstein "flips" on the FBI leadership that allowed all this b.s. to happen, or maybe Rosenstein's remained silent himself letting it all play out to expose the corrupt FBI leadership. I think time's gonna tell on this specific piece of this whole f'n fiasco.
Mueller had a mandate to “investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 election”. He clearly FAILED in this mandate. He only investigated Russian involvement in Republican Party activity in the 2016 election. My guess is that he, himself, is trying to stay out of jail.
All of this is pointless speculation.
I hope I am proven wrong on this, but IMO nothing is going to happen to the numerous high ups (and plenty on the lower levels) who have committed out and out treason.
At best we will see a few low level sacrificial lambs to satisfy the masses, and then back to business.
As much as I admire and respect DJT, unless the Swamp is leveled, burned, and the ground salted, this will never end.
No Rod Rosenstein is a traitorous little weasel that will now be used to bring down some of his co conspirators. Good guys don’t give false information to obtain FISA warrants. Good guys don’t speculate about wearing a wire when they go to a meeting with their President.
Very well aware, and looking back his actions appear to be him letting the b.s. play itself out and letting the chips fall where they may.
I felt just like you do until Rosenstein's statements last week which were complimentary towards President Trump and very critical of the Obama Administration, etc..

That is exactly what the Democrats now intend to do.
If TRUTH is to be exposed, it must exposed now.
TRUTH-seekers do not have the luxury of hesitation.
The act of exposing TRUTH must be as swift as it is decisive, and it must be immediate.
Both Rosenstein and Mueller were facing a bleak future if this report was released as close to the 2020 election as possible. Plus, it served its purpose; to help the rats win back the house in 2018. Once that was done, it was time to write the report, vindicate Trump and let the media and the rats do the rest.
Now there is an IG report that will come out, and with Barr as AG, grand jury subpoenas will go out to a select few. More than likely to McCabe, Comey, Strozk, Page, Yates and both Ohr’s. I still say the Ohr’s will be the fall guys since Nellie worked for Fusion and Bruce was the conduit. The other fall guys will be Clapper and Brennan, but I think Clapper will take a deal and rat out Brennan.
I believe that Rosenstein and Mueller will be given immunity, which is probably one of the reasons the SC’s report didn’t go as far as Hillary and Barack would have liked. Mueller will be asked a simple question, “What are you willing to give up to save Comey’s *ss?”
Nothing is more conducive to standing up than the imminent exposure of TRUTH.
