The F.B.I. on Saturday arrested the leader of a right-wing militia that was detaining migrant families at gunpoint near the border in southern New Mexico, as the group faced a torrent of criticism for its tactics.
Hector Balderas, New Mexicos attorney general, said federal agents had arrested the leader, Larry Mitchell Hopkins, who had been operating under the alias Johnny Horton Jr. Mr. Balderas said in a statement that Mr. Hopkins was arrested on charges of firearms possession by a felon.
This is a dangerous felon who should not have weapons around children and families, Mr. Balderas said. Todays arrest by the F.B.I. indicates clearly that the rule of law should be in the hands of trained law enforcement officials, not armed vigilantes.

Agreed. If the federal bureau of intimidation actually enforced the law across the board, that would be one thing. But the way they discriminate. They enforce the laws that suit them. Like this one.

Actually, it shows that felons who have weapons in contradiction of the law will be arrested.
It also shows that anything law enforcement says should be viewed with great skepticism, as that statement is pure horse manure.
Agreed.... Whatever happened to citizens arrest?
Citizens’ Arrest - constitution.org

A strong argument can be made that the right to make a citizen’s arrest is a constitutionally protected right under the Ninth Amendment as its impact includes the individual’s natural right to self preservation and the defense of the others. Indeed, the laws of citizens arrest appear to be predicated upon the effectiveness of the Second Amendment.
The Ninth Amendment is regarded by the court system of the United States as negating any expansion of government authority on account of the rights expressed in the United States Constitution. That being said, the Amendment is not regarded as further limiting governmental power.
Amendments one through eight of the United States Constitution address the limits and means by which the federal government can exercise its awarded powers, while the Ninth Amendment creates sediment of rights that are not awarded to the government.
Further on, A citizen’s arrest is an arrest made by a person who is not acting as a sworn law-enforcement official. In common law jurisdictions, the practice dates back to medieval England and the English common law, in which sheriffs encouraged ordinary citizens to help apprehend law breakers.
Therefore the right of citizens to make arrests of citizens dates back farther than the birth of the United States of America. I’d be getting a good attorney to fight this one.
Note that we’re not told what the “dangerous felony” is...
What else would you like to know? I will say that recently we had a white supremacists militia group with long arms operating in our AOR. I know that many of the militias are good well meaning people, problem is there are also a lot of not so well meaning people involved in some of these militias.
Anyone know what the "dangerous felony" this guy committed is?
And if not, why not?
I prefer not to salivate to the Pavlov's Bell of "dangerous felon!".
We're dealing with f*cking liars here.
Remember the Mueller Report?
Understood, but the arresting Dogberry says he’s “dangerous” and I’m wondering if it’s true.
I’d like to know If

The Border?
Something not quite right with that dude.
It martyred the Kennedys and disenfranchised voters. Not good for country.
Yes I have been a border Patrol agent for 10 years.
......”I know that many of the militias are good well meaning people, problem is there are also a lot of not so well meaning people involved in some of these militias”.....
That was also apparent in the Bundy Event a few years back. I also think because there is such a huge illegals in huge groups it’s more like an ‘invasion’ they’re trying to stop rather than just illegal crossings. That has got to play in the minds of some.
Strangled the K dynasty in its crib?? How then did we get Teddys 1960s immigration law change so that we now allow in anyone regardless of how they affect society?
Its = its
Certainly they would not consider defending our border "right wing"
/sarc, of course
Hmm, this same point could be made regarding some federal organizations...Im not denying you have a point, but the willful negligence of the federal govt is a significant contribution to the crisis and SOMEBODY is responsible for that too.
I don’t see how they can empanel a jury that would convict militia members who are guarding the border.
Hung juries at best...
