The F.B.I. on Saturday arrested the leader of a right-wing militia that was detaining migrant families at gunpoint near the border in southern New Mexico, as the group faced a torrent of criticism for its tactics.
Hector Balderas, New Mexico’s attorney general, said federal agents had arrested the leader, Larry Mitchell Hopkins, who had been operating under the alias Johnny Horton Jr. Mr. Balderas said in a statement that Mr. Hopkins was arrested on charges of firearms possession by a felon.
“This is a dangerous felon who should not have weapons around children and families,” Mr. Balderas said. “Today’s arrest by the F.B.I. indicates clearly that the rule of law should be in the hands of trained law enforcement officials, not armed vigilantes.”

Again, you just keep coming with the Hit Parade of police state crap. Why should they have “expected enhanced scrutiny” from law enforcement agencies? They did absolutely nothing wrong or illegal that would predicate the criminal investigation into them.
Pretty sad if you believe a citizen merely exercising their rights and calling law enforcement when they catch somebody violating the law means that that citizen should be expecting to be investigated. People engaged and Waffle activities should expect scrutiny from the FBI? You’d make a good little Bolshevik or a good Nazi citizen.
No. A better analogy is a tea party group protesting on the sidewalk, and the FBI launches an investigation and finds out someone didn’t file their taxes.
The FBI is America’s Gestapo. They enforce political crimes. Normal law enforcement has to articulate a crime being investigated before they launch into an investigation of the individuals identities. These men violated no law in their activities.
Is your position that the FBI should just randomly wander around investigating people who may be protecting schools, standing near the border, protesting tax policy with a tea party group? Or do you think there should be articulated criminal offense before you investigate who the people are?

I already stated in this thread that I support the effort. However, this is 2019, and the mainstream media is the enemy, and apparently so are the FBI. Don’t put yourself in the spotlight unless you can withstand the scrutiny.
