I mourn the loss of great architecture.

And I bet some folks will slam me for trivializing this, but this can be linked to How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Somebody steals the presents/somebody burns down the big cathedral — you really should keep focused on the main point: the Faith in important things is either alive or it is dead.

In Europe, it’s mostly dead.

Fortunately I got a chance to attend mass in Notre Dame cathedral a few years ago.

In spite of all the chest pounding, I don’t think France has the political will to rebuild Notre-Dame.

A year from now it will still be in ruins, and the Muslims will still be celebrating.

Oh, they’ll rebuild it. And it will become an “Inter-Faith” facility.

Which is a way station to eventually becoming a Mosque.

This is very fine. "Those who have eyes to see..." says Jesus, not expecting it to be everyone --"...let them see."

See what?

"There’s the altar of sacrifice. There’s the cross, illuminated, and Our Lady. In the divine plan of God all graces come to the earth, come into our souls through Our Lady. It’s a wakeup call. It’s a wakeup call for the world. … He wants to save you."

He wants to save you through His Incarnation (the Mother connection.) Through your response of loyalty, love and empathy (Mother again, Notre Dame.) Through faithfulness at the foot of the cross.

You who have eyes to see--- look, and see.

He wrote....” In the divine plan of God all graces come to the earth, come into our souls through Our Lady”.....

I don’t know what Bible he’s reading but Grace comes through Jesus Christ.....

“From His fullness we have all received grace upon grace. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:17

Everyone’s looking for a metaphor, some sort of ‘deeper’ significance..

The timbers were long dried out; they’ll be replaced and the superstructure rebuilt. It happens.

I don’t think so.

I think the cathedral will be rebuilt.

And become a magnet for the resurgence of Christianity in France.

This reminds me of the end times book written by some Messianic rabbi. He did this whole big thing on the words “we will rebuild” used at the time of 9/11 and how that meant the apocalypse was coming. Of course, his date came and went.

Maybe they can use a 3D printer to make an entire new one.

Through Our Lady (Notre Dame) from Jesus. No one is requiring you to believe that. Catholicism teaches that.

Mary is not a gateway to Jesus. HE alone brings Grace to the heart of the believer.

With all due respect, that site looks nuts.

The building ND cannot save you...nor can Mary..Jesus clearly taught that He is the only way to God the Father.

...”no man comes to my Father but by me alone.” John 14:6

It is not a matter of believing what catholic-ism teaches or not... but believing on what Jesus himself teaches about who He is, what He has done, and still He alone still does.

I get what you mean when you say "HE alone," because I believe that, too.

Bu I think you are not taking into account that we are members of His Body. Each of us is needed to extend His mission, for salvation to be ministered to all.

We can act only in HIM. Him alone!

St. Paul, writing very significantly on this subject, said we are not only "members," part of HIM, but we are necessary. "The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I do not need you.' Nor can the head say to the feet, 'I do not need you.'"

1 Corinthians 2:21.

This is so profound, and so beautiful.
