Is Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange A Foreign Spy Or A News Publisher?
The Federalist ^ | 4/11/19 | David Harsanyi

Posted on 04/11/2019 10:20:56 AM PDT by OddLane

Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, publisher of whistleblowers, and Vladimir Putin’s lackey, was arrested in London on behalf of the U.S. government for “computer related offences” after Ecuador withdrew its asylum protection. Assange, who had skipped on bail in the summer of 2012 when under investigation for sexual assault and rape in Sweden, took up residency in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for the next seven years.

Assange’s transparent cooperation with Russian intelligence in its efforts to undermine American interests and embarrass the United States is hardly in question. The notion Assange is a non-ideological warrior fighting to expose the “unvarnished truth” about abusive governments—as The New York Times once claimed—is a myth...

*** Assange is a hero to the American people, and most of the world. ***

He is a hero to me. I think my government wants him dead.
Hope I am proven wrong.

He has revealed more about the corruption, lies, and perverts at the top of the food chain than anyone. 100% accuracy rate. For this he must be punished.

Scott Adams has a great prediction on this. The positions on Assange will be decided by Trump’s take. Right now, FOX and CNN don’t know what side to take.

The longer Trump stays quiet, the more the media will be confused about what to do.

Assange did things similar to printing the Pentagon Papers where the NY press was hailed as hero-patriots. I want to hear from Assange about the data dump from the DNC server - not via the internet, but a local device dump based on data rate. Secondly, I want to hear from Assange about Seth Rich.

Nobody seems to address the fact that publishing state secrets is seriously illegal in every country. Assange may have done good by publishing them, but shouldn’t be surprised that he’s treated like a criminal/traitor/enemy for doing so.

Sometimes, your debt to humanity exceeds all other debts.

It would have been proper for a German to reveal the Death Camps in 1943.

It would have been proper for a Russian to reveal Stalin's Holodomor in 1932.

In the information age, mass spying on all citizens of all countries is also proper to reveal, as did Snowden.

And Assange was proper to reveal the incredible depths of corruption by the Democrats in general and Hillary Clinton in particular.

Would all four get punished? No doubt.

But sometimes it's gotta happen.

“Nobody seems to address the fact that publishing state secrets is seriously illegal in every country.”

No, sorry, but that is not illegal in the US, though it is illegal in countries like the UK. In the US, that activity is protected by the 1st Amendment.

Did Assange ever leak Russian or Chinese secrets?

I’d feel better about defending him if he did. If he didn’t, why didn’t he?

“Assange is a hero to the American people”

Sort of....

When Assange posted “whistleblower” info, I cheered for transparency.

But Assange was reckless and published anything, including military secrets.

One of those military secrets were the frequencies that our troops broadcasted from their vehicles to jam the cell phones that terrorists use to set off IEDs.

The Iranians picked up on that and changed their IEDs that they furnished to Iraq and Afghanistan.

That directly caused the deaths of between 40 and 200 of our troops until we realized we were hacked and upgraded.

So Assange has been good and bad. He does have blood on his hands and has to pay.

But should someone who publishes U.S. state secrets in Sweden really be subject to prosecution in the U.S. if he never set foot here while doing it? That’s a legitimate legal question.

“One of those military secrets were the frequencies that our troops broadcasted from their vehicles to jam the cell phones that terrorists use to set off IEDs.”

Do you have a source for that?

Knowing quite a bit about RF I’m thinking it’s not too hard to figure out what frequencies a Cell Phone operates at.

I am interested in the specifics of your assertion, that’s why I’m asking for a source.

Of course not - you know, they’ll like kill you and stuff. I mean, 7 years in an Ecuadoran embassy, or a polonium popsicle, tough choice, right?

Either way, he did not come to America, hack, steal, etc. He simply published information he received. I also wonder how they’re going to prosecute when the statute of limitations, from some reports as long expired.

All of the prosecuting enforcement agencies report to president Roth therefore I believe Pamela Anderson and Assange will end up eating their words when they realize that President Trump is trying to keep him safe away from the left. That is my theory.

My suspicion on this whole thing is that Assange told the U. S. Justice department, “When you guys seriously get ready to go after Hillary Clinton, come and get me and I’ll work out a deal with you to bury her.”

That time has come
...
I think you are right and either Pamela Anderson is in honor or she is too blond and too dumb to know what is going on. Maybe both. I think Cassandra will be protected from being Arkancided...

For me he’s a mixed bag. Guilty of espionage for what he did with Manning. A true blessing for exposing the Hillary campaign.

If he will expose the Seth Rich murder, I’d be in favor of cutting him a deal. Here’s a medal. Go free. Only expose bad people in future. Expose the good guys and get droned, we promise.
