Stephen Miller (Trump's top immigration adviser) behind Kirstjen Nielsen's resignation.....

Stephen Miller reportedly played a central role in the series of events that led to the resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen on Sunday.....that Nielsen's resignation was part of a larger effort by Miller 'to overhaul DHS.'

The announcement of Nielsen's departure follows top officials at the Department of Homeland Security, including Nielsen, being caught off guard by the White House’s sudden move Thursday night to pull the nomination of Ronald Vitiello to lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

This unanticipated maneuver, according to the Washington Post, was due in large part to Miller's rise in influence. Miller, along with ICE union head Chris Crane, had complained about Vitiello. Trump told reporters Friday he wanted somebody "tougher" for the top immigration enforcement role.

Miller also defended Trump's controversial emergency declaration to divert funds for a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border after Congress declined to appropriate the billions of dollars Trump sought for the project.

Despite the hard feelings that reportedly ran rampant behind the scenes, Trump was gracious in announcing Nielsen's departure Sunday.

"Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen will be leaving her position, and I would like to thank her for her service," he tweeted.

“We should set up safe zones in Mexico and invite the UN to administer them.”

Bingo. Let the UN help Mexico settle all of these immigrants. That’s their job.

I suspect a large part of the problem is that 90% of those qualified for these job are “deep state”...

The problem with the deepsters is that we have a generation of folks, the children of the '60s and onwards, 90% of who are qualified to do nothing. They excelled at writing leftist policy papers while studying foreign policy, international relations and public policy at places like Georgetown. They are unfit for real work anywhere. And they went nowhere near the military, which teaches you a trade or skill and makes you practice it for a few years, you know, fixing stuff like tanks or electronics.

of the 10% remaining, 95% look at what happens to Trump allies and say “no way” am I subjecting myself to that ****

Here you have put your finger on the nail. No decent person who is qualified to do anything would subject himself to the confirmation bullshit, going through your background with a fine-tooth comb and making stuff available to a senate committee to rip you to shreds in public.

Of course our lovely invertebrate class of GOPeeers would never think to fight fire with fire and subject democrats to whithering questions about made-up personal background until the Senate rules are changed on such nonsense.

How about Miller? Make him the immigration czar, answering to no one but Trump. Trump and Miller are about the only two in the administration that I really trust.

A Patriot would do it.

“Rick Perry appears to be the front runner to replace her. I think POTUS could and should do better than that.”

Agreed. Perry is not tough enough for the calamity we are facing.

If Perry was floated as a trial balloon, he was a lead balloon. Thank God Trump picked McAleenan.

Perry would be terrible, that would be THREE Bush League Republicans in a row after Nielsen and Kelly. We need somebody that actually WANTS to reverse the Bush Plan for North Mexico

If this article is true and Miller's influence helped get rid of Nielsen, perhaps Miller's influence will also lead to the appointment of somebody who supports the immigration agenda of the people who elected Trump as opposed to the open borders agenda of the GOP establishment. The trouble is, Miller and Navarro are the only people in Trump's inner circle who are pushing a nationalist agenda, after the GOP establishment and Javanka saw to the purging of Bannon, Gorka, etc.

Rick Perry? NO!

Perry would be even worse than Nielsen. On immigration, Perry may as well be Jeb Bush.

I doubt it will be Perry - if Nielsen was given the boot for not being on board with Trump's plans for the border, Perry wouldn't be a good fit either.

I would love to see Stephen Miller on some future Presidential ticket. He’d be a solid VP.

Where would we be without Steve Miller? I sometimes wonder if he and Sara Huckabee Sanders are the only two anywhere near the inner circle who get the Deplorable Agenda. I’ll add in Rick Perry and Ben Carson for loyalty and a good work ethic.

The sooner the wall is built, the sooner the problems will go away

Assuming the wall is not built on Mexican territory, or we do not reach a treaty relationship whereby we "make Mexico the wall", how will a wall end the crisis?

As long as it is our law that anyone setting foot on one inch of US soil has the right to petition for asylum, and that every petitioner has the right to a hearing in front of a judge (which IS the law), and as long as there are many hundreds of thousands of petitioners whose hearings will take five years, and as long as the courts enforce due process on the government - what is a wall going to accomplish?

It boggles the mind that the law cannot have a condition that the entry must be a legal entry and present to a US official. ie: land border port or airport/seaport passport inspection.
