There needs to be just a bit of reading between the lines here but make no mistake, what James Clapper is doing here is sending out a warning flare that if he’s going down there will be a lot of others he intends to take with him—including a certain former President of the United States. (Really pay attention to how much he emphasizes Obama’s personal involvement in the process from beginning to end.)
This is a Deep State operative clearly rattled by what may soon be coming his way…

Clapper brings up Obama's name much more than one would normally expect. I agree with the original poster. Clapper is serving notice that he is not going down alone.
When one factors in the FISA warrants and their timing. Then a good faith investigation by the FBI of Russian "interference" would have resulted in the FBI informing the Republican campaign that it appeared that the Russians were up to no good. Clearly, by not informing Trump of the investigation, the FISA warrants, the wire taps, and the FusionGPS meetings with the woman Russian lawyer clearly look like an unfriendly attempt to entrap the Trump campaign. Clapper knows this and knows that when the rest of the story is factored in, it does not leave Obama with clean hands.

I tend to agree. They just didn’t understand that decades of ‘survival’ in NY City, made Trump the character that he is today. You can present some public episode that has occurred, and in three minutes...Trump, without the aid of polls or a dozen insiders, has formed his plan, and is putting out his own personal Twitter comment. There’s never been anyone this capable in the President’s office.
If the administration opens up a FISA investigation, I think at least ten Obama people are in serious trouble, and could potentially go off to jail. Same for the people who clipped classified material and put it into a unclassified message to go off to Hillary’s bathroom server. These all need to be broken up into separate investigations and separate special prosecutors. Just a humble guess....but at least four dozen people could be looking at federal charges.

Exactly! I was nervous throughout 2017 and thought Trump might one day say “Screw this s—t, I don’t need to put myself and my family through this!” Any other Republican would have resigned on 01/21/17.

My thought is that Hillary was in this up to her scalp too.
In fact, I believe this was all devised during the hour and a half before the networks announced the results in the early morning hours after election night.
