The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday announced that it is siding with a district court ruling that found the Affordable Care Act unconstitutional.
The move is an escalation of the Trump administration's legal battle against the health care law.
The DOJ previously argued in court that the law's pre-existing condition protections should be struck down. Now, the administration argues the entire law should be invalidated......

I was told by my Ins agent to also check local hospitals to see how they like working with them.
I’m sure there are a few others. Good luck.
He didn’t leave any legacy in my book. He left a trail of destruction and slime. Slugs leave slime trails. Obammy the muzzie loving communist slime leaves said trail. Puke on him.
Yes, I agree. Obamacare changed things for the worse. But the problem is millions are now on it and will be voting in 2020. The GOP better come up with really good solutions if Obamacare goes away.
Consider that you have cheap insurance! Mine is just shy of 1200 A MONTH with a 6500 deductible. And I am healthy. I am also pissed! Never thought I would say it, but I cant WAIT to go on Medicare in a few months!
My first question is what does this cover up which cannot be revealed? Something worse than an attempted coup?
Overestimating the power of the Goebbelsmedia was the big mistake. It reasonably figured that an all-out blitzkrieg would drive Trump out via resignation. That would have probably worked for any other Repubican. Other side underestimated the power of the alternatives to CNN/MSSNBC/NYT/WP when they are going batshiite crazy and frothing with Trumpobia.
Yeah I’m still five years away from Medicare. But I can get social security in two and a half years.
I was hoping such a ruling would be retroactive. Kinda like marinuana legalization.
If the government (taxpayers) stopped paying for the illegal immigrants healthcare they could cover pre existing patients.
Yea we will see. I will celebrate when my medial deductions go down to half of what they were 10 years ago.
Our Policy was invalidated as of Jan. 2014 because it didn’t “qualify” under Obamacare.
We found out the beginning of December 2013 and I had to go through my former Employer Retirement Plan to get new Coverage at a 50% increase in Premiums.
From then until the time I went on Medicare last July our Premiums rose 150%.
WINNING! Thank you JESUS!
Sadly this is being decided in court and not in Congress. You never want the court to be forced to take action due to a wimpy Congress.
It all boils down to this, coverage for preexisting conditions is, by definition, NOT insurance!! I don’t know exactly what to call it but it is actually impossible to write insurance to cover preexisting conditions because once you do you are not writing insurance.
Most Americans fail to understand the difference between health coverage and health insurance.
Something that covers a pre-existing condition is health coverage.
I understand the argument but it isn't quite that simple.
What about someone who maintained insurance via their employer throughout their adult life. Suppose during that time they contracted a chronic disease. They then end up in a situation where they have to go to the individual market to purchase insurance.
I maintain that they did everything they should have and had something bad befall them - exactly the circumstance that insurance is intended for.
Without protections for pre-existing conditions they won't be able to get coverage.
no no no!!!! The government needs to get out of the regulation of insurance as much as humanly possible. Insurance companies, without their hands tied by government mandates, will come up with their own innovative products to cover young adults at a reasonable rate. Right now its the government forcing the healthy to pay the brunt of the cost for the sick and uninsured that is causing the pain.
Actually it IS that simple, read 114. You CANNOT write INSURANCE to cover preexisting conditions, you may call it insurance but it is not. You may call a turtle an eagle if you wish but you can never make him flap his wings and fly.
Now that the false collusion case is over you are going to see a real street fighter in action. You tried to kill the tiger and failed. He hears dinner bells ringing and its you
You can make that semantic argument if you like but all it means is that we haven't had health insurance in the country since at least 1974 when they passed ERISA.
Since then employer group plans have had to take all comers, even those with pre-existing conditions, even though some plans had short waiting periods.
It's true that private market plans used to be able to exclude those people but that's always been a small minority of the population.
In fact, even if the ACA is struck down the majority of people won't be subject to pre-existing condition restrictions since they get their insurance through their employer who is subject to ERISA.
Anyway, I'm not sure what making that point buys you since 99% of the populace is going to think that we do have health insurance in the country - even if they're wrong by your definition.
