The Pentagon has notified Congress that it has authorized the transfer of $1 billion to begin new wall construction along the US-Mexico border
1 billion?..what happened to the 12 billion ready for president Trumps disposal for the wall fund?
************
I had two thoughts ...
#1... A Billion here , a Billion there ... pretty soon you’re talking real money...
#2... Don’t interrupt him , he’s on a roll....
That made me laugh. I would do a jig in public too.
Kim over in NK and the boys in China now know A REAL American will be in charge for a whole lot longer.
**************
ABSOLUTELY ,,, Trump was handicapped pre-Meuller report... he is now in a more powerful position , Xi and Kim now will negotiate with greater vigor knowing that a deal made will stick.
“Calling Ann Coulter ...”
No, she’s too busy with Whorealdo Rivera to answer just now.
3000 bucks a foot? Government rate...
He wasnt alone....
....God was/is with him.
Tomorrow, the Congress is expected to fail to override the veto: https://www.wsbtv.com/news/politics/house-expected-to-fail-to-override-trump-on-border-wall/934106523
Mark Geragos was an occasional guest on Don Imus’ radio show over the years. Imus never remembered his name, so he would always refer to him as “Mark Gargle-guts.” LOL.
Go take a look at the going rate for building stuff in a city. The El Paso sector is what’s going to take the most of it, and a considerable amount of it is going to have to be built right through urban El Paso.
Even if you are a private builder and get all the property sold to you at favorable rates, it’s *expensive*.
bump
This day has been epic.
haha interesting then again Imus would just blabber about something not relevant to the guest..
President Trump must wish he could have the contract for the wall.......build the whole thing for one billion.
1 billion for 57 miles seriously..cant Trump get a price match or something from somewhereSure. He can go to WALL MART.
So you're an expert on job costs?
Or just an anti-Trump ankle biter.
I'm thinking ankle-biter.
“1 billion?..what happened to the 12 billion ready for president Trumps disposal for the wall fund?”
Money is coming from several different accounts, and each will move at its own pace. The breakout for this year is:
$1.375 billion appropriated by Congress
$2.5 billion from DoD counter drug accounts (includes this billion)
$0.6 billion from Treasury asset forfeiture accounts
..and then, only accessible by declaring a National Emergency:
$3.5 billion from Military Construction (MILCON) accounts.
So the total planned for this year is $8 billion.
Congress wanted to know exactly which Military Construction projects the Administration would take the money away from, and the Administration provided a list of about $12 billion that met the criteria, but said they had not yet decided which out of that $12 billion would be the bill payers for the $3.5 billion they will take out of the MILCON total.
So the bottom line is that we are on track to spend a whopping $8 billion on the wall this year - the $12 billion number was not all for the wall.
To put it in perspective, barrier building got $400 million in Fiscal Year 2017, and $1.6 billion in FY 2018. This year will be four times the total of the last two years combined.
We are off to the races for wall building, but it will take a few months for contracting and groundbreaking. In 3-6 months contract awards should be falling like rain.
Countdown to a lawsuit against this move, entered in some court for some . . . uh, reason . . . or something . . .
“1 billion for 57 miles”
That averages to about $17.5 million per mile, which does sound high for El Paso or Yuma sectors. We will probably learn more later to explain that high cost - there is probably more stuff rolled in.
The highest cost barrier awarded so far has approached $25 million per mile in the Rio Grande Valley, and the 20 miles West of El Paso went for less than $4 million per mile.
So 57 miles for a billion is inside the bracket of other segments’ costs.
If we get 57 miles on average for every billion this year, and get the whole $8 billion on contract, that would be more than 450 miles, where it is needed most.
BOOM!
No more half stepping on building the wall, the money bombs are dropping.
Winning!!! Still not tired of winning! Wheeeee!!!!!
I couldn’t agree more!
hey as long as it gets built I could care less about the cost just didn’t understand why only 57 miles gets built for 1 billion figured we would get more wall but whatever it takes for it to be built and if you ever read my posts you would know I’m the most pro Trump gal on the planet
