Wells Fargo CEO Tim Sloan fired back at New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at a contentious hearing in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, after the freshman legislator accused the bank of "financing the caging of children" and suggested it should bear financial liability for everything from oil spills to climate change.
Ocasio-Cortez's inquiries come as activists increasingly seek to "deplatform" political opponents by cutting off their funding from banks and other financial services providers -- a concerted effort that conservatives and libertarians have said threatens free speech.
House Financial Services Committee Chairman Maxine Waters, D-Calif., brought Sloan before the panel Tuesday as part of a broad, four-hour inquiry into widely reported fraudulent misconduct in recent years by Wells Fargo employees. But in questioning Sloan, who faced bipartisan criticism during the hearing, Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described Democratic socialist, quickly went much further.

AOC is not one person but a single person speaking for a consortium of backers who feed her research and position responses almost real-time.
Some have even suggested that she may wear an earpiece when she is speaking to the public and particularly when she is in front of a camera.
BTW her backers are the Justice Democrats, the Democratic Socialists of America (Party), and The Brand New Congress LLC. Talk on the street is that these groups are backed in part by Soros and Soros himself is in part a front for other Hard Left groups.

It is hard to be sympathetic with the big banks and their leaders. Wells has been through a series of scandals where it was caught ripping off customers. In 2008-2009 the largest banks had their hands out to the US government and were bailed out with trillions of Federal Reserve and US Treasury dollars. Within a year the big banks were back to paying multimillion dollar bonuses to the same executives who had their hands out for bailout money. Even worse, they immediately returned to the financial speculation (derivatives for example) that helped facilitate the collapse of the banking system.
Big banks and Wall Street investment firms were also big players in the deindustrialization of the US and the funding of the Chinese manufacturing boom of the last 30 years.
The executives of the “too big to fail” banks and investment firms have been consorting with and funding politicians for decades. When you lie down with dogs, expect a few flea bites.
That’s exactly what I was thinking as I was watching it. When she was grilling him if he though Wells Fargo should pay for the damage done due to “climate change” I was waiting for him to say, “ when we have definitive proof of human caused adverse effects on the climate we can then open a discussion on blame Ms. Ocossio-Cortez”. Everyone here thinks she’s dumb and she very well may be, but she’s also very dangerous.
