Citing his moral conflict with capital punishment, California Gov. Gavin Newsom will sign an executive order Wednesday that places a moratorium on executions of the state's 737 death row inmates.
The order will halt all executions performed at San Quentin State Prison while Newsom, a Democrat, is governor but leaves all convictions intact. A future governor can undo the order.
“The intentional killing of another person is wrong. And as governor, I will not oversee the execution of any individual,” Newsom said in a prepared statement obtained by the Southern California News Group.

It's been more than 13 years since the last execution.

Is he pro abortion? Then he doesn’t believe his own words.
He doesn’t have the authority or the power to abolish it and if we had a functioning government he’d be impeached and thrown out by the legislature by his blatant abuse of power.

If the past can predict the future I will state now that his action will lead to the death of some innocent person. The only question is how many will die at the hands of someone that was suppose to have been executed?

I’ve never understood the left’s perpetual hypocrisy. It’s in just about every subject. Here, they see hardened criminals as too innocent to be executed for their crimes. Then on the other hand innocent babies that have never killed a fly are put to death for never having committed a crime.
Killing a baby because the partners were too irresponsible to use contraception or just keep their pants on. These people are truly evil.
Did he run on this or did he lie like all other democrats?
Did he say “If elected, I will end executions.”
If not, this is an illegitimate action and grounds for impeachment. Not that that would ever happen.
If he didn’t run on this, the people should hold him accountable. If he did run on it, the people get the government they deserve.
He reported his wife missing and attended the memorials and acted like he was a rock star. The bodies were discovered, he was arrested and tried according to law. He was found guilty and sentenced to death. That was Fall, 2004.
Ever since then, he's been living on the taxpayer dime. He's got female admirers, a fan club, visits from sanctimonious Bay Area liberals, tv, etc. Free food, lodging and medical.
What Newsome did is no different from what that sewer of a state has been doing for decades, viz. ignoring what a) the voters want and b) what legally appointed juries determined.
Newsome, like kalifornia, is simply thumbing their noses at the law.
Then ban abortion as well or be the hypocrite you are. Your choice Gov.
Here in PA our Lefty governor Tom Wolf has likewise imposed a moratorium on executions.
It is going to get a lot worse. I am betting that at some future date he or his radical Lt. Gov. are going to pardon Abu Mumia-Jamal and Kevin Gosnell.

About forty or fifty years ago a state governor, outgoing, would often commute death sentences to life in prison. Justice was not served, and I see it is still taking place.
In the olden days, it was often less than two months from the trial to meeting “Old Sparky”.
Unless it is an unborn child. This moral midget has no problem with abortion all the way until birth.
