Ayanna Pressley’s push to lower federal voting age called ‘simply wrong’

Critics are slamming U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s push to lower the voting age from 18 years old to 16, calling it a “terrible idea.”

“It’s simply wrong,” MassGOP chairman Jim Lyons told the Herald. “Almost all 16-year-olds I know I don’t believe should have the privilege or the authority to vote. They simply haven’t matured to the level that they can make those types of decisions.”

Lyons added that Democrats have prioritized raising various age requirements “in just about everything,” including for smoking, using tanning beds and the age for juvenile crimes.

The age for voting in a national election ought to be raised to 30 years of age. At that point in time, the voter may have learned something, can think for themselves rather than think social media is the answer...it’s NOT. Ayanna Pressley grew up with group think or she wouldn’t be thinking this way.

It should be raised. 21 y/o for all except those who are in the military - should be allowed to vote from 18 y.o. The rest, 21 y.o. No exceptions.

The trouble with 16 year olds is they haven’t been taught any American History to know what elections are all about ....oh wait, they don’t teach that in any public schools anymore do they?

It should be raised to 25 for everyone.

No one older than 65 should be allowed to vote either.

Not simply at all.

It’s tragically wrong.

You’d be asking children who have no clue about how life really works, to make an adult decision.

I’m not in favor of the voting age be 18 either. Some of these kids are clueless into their mid 20s.

They’s just useless voting tools for the Left.

A form of gerrymandering by age. I imagine if they went too young, they’d scoop up too many kids that take Mom and Dad’s advise. Parents lean conservative, overall.

Agree 100%. If you serve, you should be able to own your own guns, vote, drink, smoke, all of it at 18. They rest of the people can wait until 21. If you’re old enough to die for the nation, you’re old enough to do all of the above.
