It’s been about two years, but it feels more like 20. Special counsel Robert Mueller is finally wrapping up his investigation into Russia and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and could deliver his report to the Department of Justice any day now. Americans, your nightmare is over. At least for some of you.
There are those on the left, however, whose nightmare is probably just about to begin. They’ve elevated Trump’s supposed collusion with Russia into an article of their liberal faith, and they’ve spent two years prophesying his downfall. But there’s reason to believe that their prophecies are about to fail them. And when that happens, these collusion obsessives are going to show us what a truly unhinged opposition looks like.

So what will become of the collusion-conspiracy theorists if their prophecy doesn’t come true? In the 1950s, the social psychologist Leon Festinger conducted a famous study published under the title “When Prophecy Fails.” Its findings are relevant here.
Festinger looked at a UFO cult that believed aliens would gather its members into flying saucers on a specific date and time to save them from the end of the world.
The designated time came and went, and, naturally, the ETs never showed. Festinger found that while some people quit the cult, most members stayed on — and became more committed to the group’s beliefs.
In order to override the evidence that they were wrong, the remaining members had to double down on their convictions. This mostly meant ramping up their proselytization effort. “If more and more people can be persuaded that the system of belief is correct,” Festinger wrote, “then clearly it must after all be correct.”
It’s not hard to transpose this dynamic onto the collusion-crazed left. Mueller was prophesied to save them from the end of the world: Trump’s presidency. If that prophecy fails, and Mueller’s report doesn’t prove Trump guilty, some will cut bait. But most will stay on, scream louder and recruit others to the cause.
Never ones to let basic facts get in the way of fully synchronized, mass hypnosis.
Just as there are those who, despite the evidence, still cling to the Socialist dream.
The lack of evidence only proves that the conspiracy was even more insidious than we thought!
The left has too much time and effort dedicated to their collusion theory. They can never let it go. They will acknowledge that they couldn’t prove it; but they will say that no one was able to disprove it either:
The preacher William Miller convinced his followers that Jesus would return on Oct 22 1844. That failed to occur and was labeled The Great Disappointment. But it didn’t really stop the Millerite movement. They just shifted a little and called themselves Seventh Day Adventists.
More like two years telling bigger and bigger lies to each other about a crime that never existed.
They are simply liars, big bald faced liars.

Let the diehard Democrats pay Mueller’s bill;don’t just lump it on the taxpayers. This could be considered part of legal reform.
The word will end in 12 years so does it matter?
There may be some liberals who believed the “collusion” but doubtful if any Americans did
time for the Clinton Russian collusion investigation to begin.

After they lost at the ballot box the whole thing was about blocking Trump while trying to either impeach or indict him til they could win Bach the WH and undo everything he’s done. “Back to Obama”
Like they created a lie and then will run with it claiming it’s true and they’ll fight to keep it a lie.
It used to be that Fox News could be depended on to respond to such damaging propaganda. This was back when Glenn Beck had his show. After he left, the slide into a sort of ‘Neutered-neutrality’ began, and continues to this day under new management. I’m not around TV sets much these days, but I hear the Fox has been pretty much domesticated.

Mueller may not have found any collusion, but with his crack team of anti-Trump Clintonistas, he may have concocted enough innuendo and unsupported hypotheses for the media to bash Trump with for the next few months. Just maybe he will claim to have found evidence of "obstruction of justice" either in the firing of Coney or statements Trump said about his efforts or about Jeff Sessions.
