On Thursday, Chicago Police Department's Superintendent eviscerated Smollett in an extraordinary press conference where he called him 'despicable', 'shameful' and accused him of 'taking advantage of the pain of racism to further his own career'.

I thought that actors sign a contract on an agreed salary. They renegotiate when the contract is up for renewal. When was his contract expiring?
