Yep...
The problem is, the Left just doesn’t think using tried and true methods. A defeat in the Senate for this thing, wouldn’t phase them at all.
They would just write it off to corporate and political corruption. Never mind the thing is a nightmare. They just don’t see it that way. I’ve had some of it’s supporters tell me that it pays for itself. Seriously!
So while we will think we’ve really shown her up, they won’t see it that way at all.
They will see it this way.
That AOC is amazing. She’s only been in Congress for a couple of months, and she’s already got a game changing legislation on the floor of the U. S. Senate.
They won’t go away with their tail between their legs. They’ll be emboldened to tweak it worse and try it again.
Look at that monstrosity the House and Senate voted for yesterday and passed it.
It was in some ways as bad as this thing.
We’re kidding ourselves if we think we defeat this in the U. S. Senate by a wide margin, and it simply goes away.
No! It’s not going away. Next time they’ll be more clever about it, and next time it will get far more votes.
You’ve described their modus operandi perfectly.
Actually, this isn't true.
AOC never campaigned on this nonsense at all. She represents a district in New York City that is working-class at best and mired in poverty at worst. I'll bet you couldn't find three people in her district who consider the environment one of the 50 most important issues they face in their lives.
She only came out with this idiocy AFTER she was elected ... because it was never her idea in the first place. It was the brain-child (and I use that term loosely) of major Democrat donors who latched onto her as the hapless fool who wouldn't mind making an ass of herself as the face of the issue on TV and Twitter.
The whole thing has been so amateurish it's hardly even on the radar screen of any Republicans in Washington.
We have to expose this for the racial wealth transfer it is; when they say “green”, they mean money - not the environment: “The outline states up front that a Green New Deal must not only promote justice and equity but also seek to repair harm and prevent future injury to those most vulnerable to climate change and the fossil fuel economy namely communities of color, indigenous peoples, migrants, rural communities, the poor, people with disabilities, the elderly, and young people.”
This is a “black and brown” New Deal - MORE free sh!t for them, paid for by us (whites and Asians).
To be fair, it kind of does “pay for itself,” you see the economy would collapse so quickly, that we’d cut our carbon emissions by 90% as all economic activity would simply stop because no one could afford anything. And they’d just “print” the money for UBI - never mind that it would cause Venezeualan or Zimbabwe like inflation - that’s beside the point!
Is it possible for you to challenge them on the green new deal? Like, by taking any of its goals and asking them how it will work, or what the environmental impact will be? Or asking them what, exactly, guaranteed income or any of the other leftist pipe dreams in it have to do with the environment?
You are right and we must implement the final solution on these socialists.
