Portland Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty walks past Commissioners Chloe Eudaly and Amanda Fritz at the Portland City Council meeting
Portland is out of the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force again.
The Portland City Council voted 3-2 Wednesday to withdraw the citys police officers from the JTTF, a partnership between federal agencies and local law enforcement.
Commissioners Jo Ann Hardesty, Amanda Fritz and Chloe Eudaly supported the change. They worry there is not enough civilian oversight to ensure Portland officers abide by civil rights laws and say there isnt enough evidence to show the task force has made Portland safer.
The current president has made clear his animosity toward Muslims, immigrants and people of color, Fritz said, noting that the FBI has not followed through on promises to provide more, regular information on the groups work since Portland re-entered the partnership several years ago. I found it hard to trust the JTTF under President Obama. Its impossible now.
Portlands vibrant left-wing activist community turned out in force at Wednesdays meeting to show its support for withdrawal. The council chamber was standing-room only with an overflow room filled as well.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (Left) and Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty
The left sides with evil. Again.
We don’t want them to find OUR terrorists.
She looks like a black version of the Cript Keeper.
Most of them, I do believe, drive in from out of state every time they need to have a dust up.
Im beginning to think women should not be allowed into politics.....and I say that as a woman.
“FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force again.”
FBI led? Better to be led by the Boy Scouts.
That first photo goes a long way toward answering the question, “What’s wrong with Portland?”
One of the factors in the demise of the Soviet Union was satellite countries beginning to ignore central authority regulations...
Just an observation.
“Im beginning to think women should not be allowed into politics”
So said Thomas Jefferson: “Were our State a pure democracy...there would yet be excluded from their deliberations...women, who, to prevent depravation of morals and ambiguity of issue, should not mix promiscuously in the public meetings of men.” (Letter from Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval)
The new Marxists run Portland. Not much sane people can do about these reds and black extremists except leave, continue to try and get good candidates, or sit on their lazy asses and say “May I have another”?
If Portland gets hit I will not shed a single tear.
Not one.
L
not necessarily, the other side of this transaction is the FBI
Portland like San Francisco deserves themselves. Put a wall around those cities and shoot anyone who tries to leave. No one else wants their BS.
I see no reason to invite the Feds to embed and influence local law enforcement.
But I bet there’s a bunch of Freepers that think this is bad...because of the stated motives.
Not because it’s necessarily bad.
Most of the stuff listed is either clearly federal or clearly local. It sounds like the Feds provide the locals with specialized personnel and equipment, and train some locals, but it’s not really clear what the advantages to the locals are. I’m sure the FBI likes to get info from local sources, so they don’t have to spend time doing it themselves. I’m also sure the locals get important briefings from the FBI. All in all however, the JTTF sounds more like a badge-shiner for the FBI than anything really necessary.
I know Portland is doing this out of a spiteful death wish, but it’s hard to find great value in this.
Death warmed over.
I don’t trust either the FBI or Portland officials, so I don’t give a darn about this.
If you would like more information about what's happening in Oregon, please FReepmail me.
Actually, Wheeler has been a worse problem on most issues than the black woman.
