WASHINGTON (AP) Congress rolled toward resolving its border security brawl with President Donald Trump in uncommonly bipartisan fashion Thursday, preparing to approve a compromise averting a new government shutdown this weekend but providing a mere sliver of the billions Trump has demanded for a wall with Mexico.
With Trumps halfhearted signature widely expected but not yet guaranteed, the Democratic-controlled House was poised to pass the sweeping measure Thursday evening, and the Republican-led Senate was expected to approve as well. Bargainers formally completed the accord moments before midnight Wednesday night.

LOL. Two years in. Zero wall. Third world migration, legal and illegal, into our homeland at Obama levels or worse.
When do his "steps ahead" actually lead to a real-world achievement on reducing the influx? Ever?
Watch and Learn.
I keep waiting for him to do one thing that will last more than 2 minutes into the next democrat presidency.
‘judges’ are always a mixed bag (see Roberts).
Anything else? Can’t think of anything.
It is now apparent that his election will not slow that process by a second.
How much of Donald Trump’s wall has been built since he came into office?
In the run-up to the 2016 presidential election, Mr Trump promised to
build a wall along the border’s entire 2,000-mile length.
He later clarified that it would only cover half of that - with nature,
such as mountains and rivers, helping to take care of the rest.
But, since Mr Trump entered the White House, although some of the already
existing barriers have been replaced, no construction on any extension to
the wall has yet been started.
Overall, Congress has so far approved $1.7bn in funding for 124 miles of
new and replacement barrier since Mr Trump entered the White House.
Just over 40 miles of replacement barriers have been built or begun.
Construction is expected to start on 61 more miles of replacement
barrier in 2019. This equates to new sections of about 15% of
existing structures.
The first construction on any extension to the existing structures -
what could be termed new barrier - will start in February in the
Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
The twin projects will cover a total of 14 miles - one barrier
stretching six miles and the other eight miles.
I watch the real world, not the world of words and promises.
In the real world, in two years, this administration has accomplished zero on its central campaign promise. In the real world, Trump let the GOPe set the agenda for two years, squandering his mandate and signing multiple wall-less GOP spending bills. Then shutdown failure-theater and now this unlimited amnesty /cosmetic-fencing sell-out bill.
I wish I could join you in your “the future will be totally different” fantasy world. It seems like a happy place.
The GOPe got their tax cuts. That was priority number one. Other than that...?
Donald Trump was elected to stop our country from becoming Mexico.
Yep the USA is being attacked from the South and the
Far East. Numbers appear to be about the same.
The little whores of Congress have already agreed to build the wall, they are just haggling over the price.
I can sense the leftist phallus about 1” from my back hole. No sign of any Vaseline around either..
Both margins are veto busting margins.
It's a waste of time to play hardball on this. It's over and Trump has more important things to do.
Do I like it? I detest it. Rush said it was a dirty rotten bill, or something close to that. None of us like this cr_p.
The senate vote was: Yea 86 Nay 14 LINK
The House vote was: Yea 300 Nay 128 LINK
Card carrying member of the concern troll club?
Thank you for your so intelligent comment.
Read the contents of thhe bill.
Just watched Trump talk about it and he signed the national Emergency declaration....he’s taking positive action instead of trying to wait the dems out.....some trolls will never be satisfied no matter how hard reality slaps them upside the head.
A lot of the GOP were looking for direction from Trump before casting their vote. Had he stood up against it, enough of them would have too.
Is there anything ever that isn’t his fault? LOL
We’re getting a wall, and this is what I run into, complaints.
Would Trump have to tell you not to vote for this nonsense?
He shouldn’t have to tell anyone not to vote for ‘stuff’ like this.
Declaration of State of Emergency will do no good if bill gets signed, because unless Trump has an existing Declaratory Judgment that the basis for that Declaration is in keeping with law, it will get stopped in tracks by a Democrat petition to a shopped Federal Judge.
Then we have no emergency plus money and effort being directed toward implementing all the benefits to hordes of immigrants given by bill.
You are full of vacuous criticism based on obvious ignorance.
