Florida voter support surges for Mexico border wall, new poll shows; Trump approval inching up

Florida voters are much more supportive of President Donald Trump’s signature issue - building a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico - than they were a year ago.

A Florida Atlantic University Poll released Tuesday reports a majority of Florida voters now support the idea.

The FAU poll found 55 percent of Florida voters support construction of an additional wall along the border with Mexico and 37 percent opposed the idea.

In February 2018, FAU found Florida voters were evenly divided, with 43 percent supporting a wall and 45 percent opposing.

Republican support for the wall increased significantly in the last year. In the new poll, 84 percent of Republicans support and just 11 percent oppose the wall.

That was a net support of 73 percentage points among Republicans; a year ago it was 50 points.

Democratic opposition was still overwhelming, though slightly less than a year ago. In the new poll, 23 percent of Democrats supported and 67 percent opposed a wall.

Support for a wall surged among no party affiliation/independent voters.

In the new poll, 59 percent support and 29 percent oppose a wall, a net positive of 30 points. In February 2018, 37 percent of independents supported a wall and 43 percent were opposed, a net negative of 6 points.

[Florida is getting Redder...]

Based on the recounts made necessary by the close recent election results, I’d say it’s not. My guess is that black Democrats are a little more convinced about the need for a wall. Blacks are probably close to half of the Democrats in FL and are generally anti-immigration, but they’ll never vote for the GOP, unless the GOP promises never to go after racial quotas.

Our Donald’s “actual and real” approval number must be around 65% or higher. MSM won’t ever tell the truth.

I believe his approval numbers have always been over 55%.

I suspect the electorate is having a serious case of buyer's remorse.

Remember back in late October/early November, the market fell then bounced around. Many RINOs were not running for re-election in the House and the Republicans on the ticket were sidestepping Trump/Deplorables and getting outyelled by their fired-up opponents. After the election, the market kept getting pummeled and everyone was saying recession was right around the corner, and Trump will be a one-term President.

Fast-forward to now. The market has recovered it's mojo, the real economy hasn't tanked, Trump has not wavered (much) and by most accounts delivered a strong SOTU speech. All good things.

But what's also happened is that during the Govt Shutdown, the Democrats went full commie with all their airtime. The conga line of statists trotting before the electorate of Kamala Brown-Harris, Spartacus Booker, Cortez the Killer, the VA Dem leadership, Senator Warren (DNA-MA), and a few others I can't recall, make Pelosi and Schumer look normal.

I'm convinced the citizenry is looking on at their guys and gals in the House the same way Dr. Frankenstein looked on at his monster. Maybe that Trump guy isn't so bad after all.

On the federal level, construction of additional border wall is popular in Florida with 55% support and 37% opposition (+18). This is driven by party affiliation with Republicans most in support at 84% with 11% opposed while Democrats oppose 67% to 23%. Independents are more in line with Republicans on this issue with 59% in support and 29% opposed. And similarly 51% voters support congressional funding for a border wall in exchange for avoiding another partial government shutdown with 36% in opposition (+15).

It’s kind of funny. I live in Florida and definitely want the wall, but we have nothing to do with the wall. Although we get ours from the water. I wonder if we can build a wall around Florida....lol.

Trump is now reversing his campaign platform and calling to increase legal immigration over Obama levels.

Trump needs to do a national message ON THE NUMBERS RE: illegal immigrants - he has failed at doing a national “sales job” - tho the SOTU was a good start:

* CURRENT COSTS OF supporting the illegals now

* How costs will be REDUCED by slowing illegals

* HOW ILLEGALS HURT & DAMAGE CITIZENS - SHOW ME THEN NUMBERS, THE STATS, THE FACTS!

* And for all the dumbed-down idiots on the left, FACTUAL EVIDENCE OF HOW/WHY WALLS - AND ONLY WALLS - WORK! He has to blow up the Democrat lies that “other measures” can work as well!

Hannity - please get this to Trump.......

Florida is getting Redder...

That's because they finally have a Republican leader they can get behind - as opposed to the Bush-League Republicans we've been fed the last 30 or so years.
