The White House said Sunday it cannot rule out another government shutdown as it gets mixed signals from Democrats and Republicans racing a Friday deadline to fund President Trumps border-wall demands and keep federal operations humming.
White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said proposed funding is all over the map and that Democrats are pushing to cap the number of detainee beds for people who cross into the U.S. illegally, causing talks to stall.
The government shutdown is still on the table. We do not want it to come to that, but that option is still open to the president and will remain so, White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney told Fox News Sunday.
Mr. Trump, whose demands for wall money led to a monthlong shutdown, said Democrats must shoulder blame if funding lapses again. He said theyre not offering anything near the $5.7-billion he says is needed for his barrier with Mexico, while raising unnecessary hurdles.
They are offering very little money for the desperately needed Border Wall & now, out of the blue, want a cap on convicted violent felons to be held in detention! he tweeted Sunday.

Pro pearl clutcher here... The TSA workers calling in sick and screwing up airline traffic is what caused Trump to back off. The American public blamed him for the shutdown and Republicans in Congress were getting the vapors over complaints from constituents. It won’t go well for Trump if it happens again. Most government employees would love to sabotage everything Trump tries to do.
I hope that's not true. But Friday was the last possible deadline for doing the EO that made any sense. As soon as he recognized that it was an emergency, it should've been done. It looks like a fake emergency if it can wait.
Bump
That sure makes sense to me!
Pull the hammer back and hold the barrel to their heads. If necessary, do a state of emergency AND a shutdown. Never bluff with these people. If they call your bluff, pull the trigger.
They should be arguing about how may bullets to give border security, not how many beds to make the illegals comfortable. This is all ridiculous. President Trump needs to go it alone...he's given Congress every opportunity to have their skin in the game. Build the Wall thru the military...make the Democratic Party have to defend their lack of support in 2020.
Too big.
ATC not TSA. The TSA was slowing down too, but the ATC was the final straw.
The Dem cap on beds is to require catch and release. Without beds the border patrol must catch and release.

Good Grief. Talk about bogging down on minutiae. It’s just the normal Dem stall tactic. Whether you have one bed or 10,000 beds or 100,000 beds isn’t going to stop the 5 million who plan to enter illegally in 2019. A wall and a heavy armed guard presence on the border will make them think twice.

Yep, and, I’d bet, the “party of stupid”, being stupid, didn’t counter by bringing Arpio (sp?) into the next meeting to give ‘em a break-down of the possible....and one-up the same by giving the ‘costs’ if hosted on the Mexican side of the border.
I don't understand why we are not catching and then releasing them back into Mexico, instead of the USA. Well, I do understand why (Democrats) but a sane country would be releasing illegals immediately back to their place of origin.
