Chicago police said Monday they had located additional surveillance cameras in the area where "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett allegedly was attacked last week.
Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the footage from those cameras was being "downloaded and reviewed." He added that two individuals seen in the area around the time Smollett said he was attacked -- and considered "people of interest" -- had not yet been identified "as homeless or otherwise." Guglielmi previously said investigators would go painstakingly through footage to reconstruct what Smollett said happened to him early on the morning of Jan. 29.
According to an initial police report obtained by Fox News, the 36-year-old Smollett, who is black and openly gay, told officers that he was accosted while walking to his apartment by two men who called him an "Empire f----t [n-word]." Smollett then said the men beat him and poured an "unknown chemical substance" on him, staining his clothes. The report said that when responding officers arrived, Smollett had a white rope draped around his neck, but the report did not specify whether his alleged attackers put the rope there.
The report also says that Smollett initially did not want to report the alleged attack, but his manager did so because "he believed it to be in the best interest."

I would agree with your first sentiment. They will keep looking until they can charge someone or the story fully blows over, and while I would normally trust the integrity of LEO investigators, I have no doubt there’s probably a lot of intense top-down pressures and influence in this case.
Still... I can’t subscribe to your second notion. It sounds to me more like you’re worried that this isn’t a hoax and they really will catch someone.
If they have learned one thing over the years, as freepers know well, it is NEVER EVER a good idea to fabricate documents and evidence for public/political consumption. If it’s fake, it will get shreded to bits
A plot straight out of Hollywood.
Look for an ID episode to portray the event as told by Jussie, and then for the issuance of wanted ads with fake images of the people responsible, who will forever be ‘at large’ and presumed armed and dangerous. And a phone to call in case somebody spots the ‘culprits’: Call 325-555-3253

I wouldn’t trust any “found” footage at this point. Hollywood can manufacture an entire fantasy world ala Black
Panther making a sketchie surveillance photo with thugs in MAGA hats seems pretty easy.
Also it turned out he never had a “broken” rib. He changed his story to say “bruised rib.”
It took the CIA a fer days to fabricate the footage.
What I find amazing here is the Chicago PD is spending hundreds of manhours on this bogus case and essentially write off a run of shootings on the south side as “a normal night.”
