The US Army has concluded that Iran was the only victor of the eight-year US campaign to remove Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and replace him with a democratic regime.
Thats one of the findings of a massive historical study released Jan. 17, the first major military review of the Iraq wars lessons. Commissioned in 2013 by General Ray Odierno, then the Armys top commander, it was conducted by half a dozen field grade officers at the US Army War College.

six thousand brave young Americans killed, tens of thousands more physically and psychologically maimed, trillions squandered, a severe economic recession and the political ascent of Obama. I want the list of every military contractor and political hack who made 'speeches' in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.... and how much they were paid to keep America in this God Awful Disaster....

Well yeah, Saudis attack World Trade Center, corrupt media propaganda gets Americans to think Saddam did it, US spends trillions, Shiites take over Iraq, Israel actually is in greater danger, thousands of US soldiers are killed and the Mideast leans toward China and Russia.
What's not to like about that?/s

If Iran wanted to execute a game plan to establish itself as a major regional power, it couldn’t have done any better than what the U.S. has done over there. Was that Bush administration really filled with a bunch of Iranian agents, or what?

I despise Obama more than anyone, but blaming him for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq is idiotic. All Obama did was carry out the terms of the Status of Forces Agreement GWB signed with Iraq in November 2008.

No one has said a thing about the fact that this study was performed by field grade officers.
They were at the war college, so they’re sh*t-hot front-runners, but they were not generals.
Further, they were thriving in the post-Clinton, post-Bush, post-Obama military, and are therefore of suspect character, intelligence, and loyalty to the constitution.
It would take a lot to convince me that this study is anything it should be.

It seems, religious fanatics are all birds of a feather, regardless of world origin.
Small wonder that the the strange set of events produced thorns instead of fruit.

You only need to go back and read some of the threads from those days and you will see the blood lust in the country. People around here couldnt wait to go in and get at Saddam.
It was a mistake then. And now these guys are confirming what a waste of time it was.

I remember the reason that GHWB stopped the troops at Kuwait (or was stopped): because taking out Sadaam would create a vacuum and destroy the balance and empower Iran. Well, look what happened.

This falls squarely on Cheney and Bush. And Mary Cheney wants us to stay forever in Syria and Afghanistan. I like Dick Cheney but he and Rumsfeld were wrong. Rice and Powell were right.

We shouldn't feel too bad. The Shites always had the demographic numbers and like Mark Styen says: "the future belongs to those who show up."
