The US Army has concluded that Iran was the only victor of the eight-year US campaign to remove Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and replace him with a democratic regime.
Thats one of the findings of a massive historical study released Jan. 17, the first major military review of the Iraq wars lessons. Commissioned in 2013 by General Ray Odierno, then the Armys top commander, it was conducted by half a dozen field grade officers at the US Army War College.

The State Department saw to that.
Should have just nuked the entire site from orbit (it was the only way to be sure)
Thank you Obama, and Bush, for not fighting to win.
sh*t disturbing thread disturbs sh*t.
Iran is overextended. It has overreached, like China, because of Obama’s timidity.
Gee, thanks Obama.
When Congressman Ron Paul spoke out against the Iraq invasion he accurately predicted virtually chapter and verse what was to come. He was absolutely correct in his prescient analysis. Too bad he was ignored. Otherwise the nation may have been spared the intolerable grief of over six thousand brave young Americans killed, tens of thousands more physically and psychologically maimed, trillions squandered, a severe economic recession and the political ascent of Obama. These foreign entanglements in alien lands have and continue to severely hurt the nation.
I stated it multiple times...they should have TAKEN THE OIL FIELDS, and used the revenue and profits to pay for our occupation time there and handed over the money to the families of our fallen soldiers. Stupid Dubya handed them over to those clowns like France who stayed away and did not help us.
What were these cowardly pukes called by Don Rumsfeld: Old Europe...
The government bent over backwards to ignore the Iranian militias. Which had the double whammy of provoking Sunni militias, which lead to ISIS, and strengthened the Iranian position in the government.
If al-Sadr was sent packing, we’d have done far better.
Plus a 400 million dollar cash prize from Obama as a parting gift.
I agree with the Armys assessment. If overthrowing Saddam was so important, we shouldve worked with people within the Baath Party to stage a coup and keep the governmental infrastructure in place. While the Baath regime was a brutal one, it was effective in providing a counterweight to Iran in that region. To invade and upend the entire government was an unnecessary venture that paid off far less compared to the losses and expeditures incurred. It was truly a collosal mistake.
PAULBOT!! PAULBOT!!! HIDE THE CHILDREN!!
Yeah, especially since Obama the first female president made certain that Iranian interests were served in Iraq.
Gee, thanks Obama
And George Bush
Thank you Obama, and Bush, for not fighting to win.
Sorry, but invading in the first place - to take out Irans biggest foe - was lunacy. And thats all on Bush, worst GOP president in history
I have to think that if the Baath regime would have overthroen Saddam, we’d have taken that route.
They wouldn’t.
Iranians took over right after Bush oustedvtheir enemy, Saddam - and years before Obama became president. As Trump has said, Bushs decision to invade Iraq was monumentally stupid
Bush seems like a nice man, personally, but he was no more fit to be president than my very nice, but somewhat simple, neighbor. Bush paints rather well. He should have picked up that pastime earlier, instead of inflicting himself on America and the GOP
The female, Obama, made absolutely certain it accelerated and compounded.
Recall the election in Iraq that the flappy handed fag interfered in and installed the Mullahs man in office instead of backing the other dude?
I do.
