Chicago police say 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett refuses to hand over cellphone to them

CHICAGO — "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett has refused to turn over his cellphone to detectives, who are investigating the alleged attack that sent him to the hospital earlier this week, Chicago police said Thursday.

The actor declined to share telephone records that could show he was speaking with his manager just as the alleged assault happened early Tuesday morning in Chicago, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told NBC News.

He’s stupid if he thinks the police can’t reconstruct his
cell phone usage, anyway.

The “noose” was reportedly like the clothesline you buy in a store, just a thin cord which was not fashioned as a noose according to what I’ve read the police said. Apparently it was just a cord draped around his neck area and looked as though it had been recently removed from its packaging.

I hadn’t heard about the body cams being turned off. Interesting.

They didn’t ask to see his phone because that’s the only way to get the information. They asked to see his phone because his response to their request is a major clue about whether he’s telling the truth about what happened.

“refusing to hand over phone” and “declining to share telephone records” are two different things. There will be records that are available from other places than the phone. So the speculation that he’s got “personal” stuff on the phone that is unrelated to the incident, which he doesn’t want the police to see, only explains the “refusing to hand over the phone” part. Not the “declined to share records” part.

Well, see, i would be interested because people just dont’ keep talking on the phone to their manager all the way through their supposed assault.

Not that much of an assault if the assaulters allow the victim to keep talking on their cell phone.

That phone call would verify and confirm what the ‘assaulters’ were saying to him. Also give them voice information to use later on.

Don't tell me he is supporting this fraud. How can anyone believe this "attack" was for real? There is ZERO evidence he was attacked by anyone and what seems to be ENDLESS evidence he made the whole thing up. Did you see the letter he claims was sent to him by the "racists"?
