(CNN) - Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has quickly become one of Washington's most prolific social media users, but this weekend the New York freshman said Silicon Valley companies had too much power and that "the current monopoly trend is societally and economically unsustainable."
Ocasio-Cortez's comments came in the aftermath of layoffs at a number of number of news organizations, including BuzzFeed and HuffPost.
"The biggest threats to journalism right now are tech monopolies & concentration of ownership," she tweeted on Saturday, adding: "The fact of the matter is the current monopoly trend is societally & economically unsustainable. We can't simply accept the cliché that 'journalism is dying.' Journalism will only die if we choose not to fight for it - and if journalism dies, our democracy will, too."

I agree 100%. And the Kenyan boy showed them how to use the FBI and CIA to “waterboard” any idiot who dares to donate to GOP politicians. They aren’t communists. The Democrats have gone full fascist Nazi on us. That’s why they always refer to Americans as Nazis. It takes the spotlight off of them. Being allowed to go full honky and still throw the race card makes them almost invincible.
Unsustainable?
I’ll give them unsustainable:
Anything liberals call “sustainable”.
Your post nails it.
Why would anyone care what this nimrod says? She has already demonstrated incandescent stupidity combined with militant ignorance. In short shes a typical Democrat from her district. And I gotta say New Yorkers think theyre the cream of the crop because they live in the city but like everything else theyre dead wrong about that too (unless you count as cream what floats to the top of the septic tank)
“”the current monopoly trend is societally and economically unsustainable.””
The federal government is a big monopoly.
The usual leftist response to the emergence of a “monopoly” — usually meaning excessive concentration but well short of an actual monopoly — is to demand government regulation or outright control. A government takeover as a response to monopoly power is ... well, you have to be a leftist to fail to connect the dots.
Except when it suits them.
And God-Bless Trump, yes I’m a little disappointed at what’s happened over the past few days. But Trump saw all this, knowing that he didn’t have to step into the arena, but he did it anyway.
If anyone calls me on anything I say about Trump, just know it comes from wanting him to win.
Theyll snap her leash by writing her campaign some huge checks. As dim as she is, money speaks loudly.
Shes not entirely wrong but for very wrong reasons.
She wants to save the dying MSM. Her method appears to be more .gov control.
This ignorant buffoon went to college
because of the largesse of a billionaire.
There has been way too much global consolidation of media companies.
I see snopes is busy covering up for her.

Gosh, she sure thinks she knows everything about everything these days.
They must have really good schools on whatever insectoid planet she came from.
She’s right, like a stopped clock. In anything resembling a free economy, dominant companies and dominant industries always change over time.
journalism has been dead for decades.
If Cortez’s Marxist redistribution system and heavy regulations (meant to generate crony capitalist payoffs) will kill the Capitalist resurgence Trump has created. The Marxist elites want a society dependent. A dependent society is easier to control. Even mindless morons like Cortez will have enormous power over the feeble neutered citizenry.
