CNN political analyst and USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers bizarrely claimed on Monday that Covington Catholic High School students referred to a black classmate as a racial slur with silent hand gestures to their harassers — who were actually saying the word.
The alleged gesture occurred in the lead up to a confrontation between some of the school’s students and a Native American activist on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during Friday’s March for Life event in Washington, D.C.
Initial video of a confrontation between Covington Catholic High School junior Nick Sandmann and Native American activist Nathan Phillips created a firestorm of controversy on social media, with both left and right-wing media observers accusing the student of racism. Sandmann, donning a red Make America Great Again baseball cap, is seen smiling as he stands in front of Phillips, an elder with the Omaha tribe, who is beating a drum close to his face. Some of Sandmann’s classmates were laughing and making hand gestures in what some say were attempts to make fun of Phillips.

I just looked up Kirsten Powers on Google. On my iPhone, the first thing that comes up is a snapshot of her career and the first entry is ‘Kirsten Powers is an American PSYCHOPATH’. I kid you not!
I hope they not only go after the networks but go after the talking heads personally as well. Leave them pennyless.

I recall reading that Tom Brokaw faced civil consequences for calling Richard Jewell a terrorist in 1996. Jewell was also maligned by the media as ‘living with his mother’ when in fact she was living with him and he was taking care of her.
So there is precedent.

She used to be a halfway reasonable Lefty (she wrote the book "The Silencing" a few years ago) but since she left Fox she has completely lost it.

Very correct. I prefer not to use it, but you are entirely correct in your position.
I rarely heard it as a boy, anywhere, much less at home. My parents were authentically conservative, including being not racist.
My mother, who is part Semite and very dark, once said that some of her classmates sometimes thought she must be part black. She used the other term instead, which somewhat surprised me, since my parents did not use it as a rule. She was simply quoting classmates from her childhood, when it was simply what it was: a vernacular rendition of negroe.
She obviously was not degrading herself. She said it to emphasize that she had always been unusually dark.
P.S.
Since she was Prom Queen three years in a row, being that dark obviously did not interfere with her popularity in a white neighborhood in the early 1940s in Wisconsin.
Kirsten Powers had the opportunity to confront the hate group that was harassing the boys, but typical of elitist liberal racism, they must discount and apologize for the abberant behavior of minorities who misbehave as if they are less of a human being and not accountable for their actions
I really wish this was not tolerated on FR. I am 45, married over 20 years and my husband is the only man for me, and I have no children. We wanted/want children, but God had other plans. I have never had an abortion, but I have had several miscarriages. Please don’t assume you have a clue what a childless woman has been through.
